Back playing this Saturday, well barely as our match was over in 90 minutes. Opposition only had 9 players and were all out for 48 in less than an hour then we knocked that off for 2 wickets. I did wonder at the rate wickets were falling (and lack of opposition players) that I might not get a bowl but sneaked on to pick up the final wicket.

Got my season back on track after my crisis of confidence a couple of weeks ago - thanks for the positive vibes here that helped keep me going! After a few green shoots of recovery last weekend (24 & 16, and 3 cheap wickets with my dibbly-dobblies), got a nice solid 39 yesterday.  Felt really good against the seamers save for a very close lbw shout, but sadly predictably got bogged down against a very slow offie and self-destructed against him with a filthy hack - i still can't find a way of keeping my score ticking over against that kind of bowling  :( Finally capped my day by taking a knee trembling skyer to remove the oppo's best batsman which helped seal victory. Unbelievably the first winning side I've been in since last july!

well we lost a stinker yesterday by one wicket,
we batted first and made a good 171 off our 46 some wayward bowling b y them and not as many wides as we could have awarded,
we had them in trouble early on and they one young lad who batted all the way almost and made a very good ton, however next best scorer was extras with 33, now we dont bowl very many wides or no balls however two of their umpires were how should we say, dubious to say the least, so not a happy camper at all

Pleased to read your post and that you are back on track  easy to get bogged down against slow bowlers particularly this time of the season it happens to me all the time but the key is to hang in there treat being  bog down as a mindset just think its better for me to be at the crease being well set rather than a new batsman and  me not give the opposition a lift by throwing my wicket away  as having scored a solid 39 you have done the hard work look to push for a single take the pressure off get to the other   end if you can't just continue to  do what you works for you.

You're right I'm sure, I felt myself getting very anxious in that situation and the oppo knew it. As it so happened getting out when I did didn't work out badly for the team as we had a nice acceleration towards the end to set up a good total, though perhaps i should have been a bit more selfish...?

Hey Felix, you better not end up in the 3rd XI next week - we've got you at our place I think, and my filthy slow swingers might make your eyes light up!!!

Don't worry - I will probably crumble under the pressure of bowling to another forum legend.

This is all, of course, pending my selection into the mighty 3's!!!!

Here's the key although it's your nature to get anxious give the impression you are relaxed step away from your stance between balls switch off relax your mind don't give the opposition a sniff and yes all batsman need to be selfish on this occasion it worked out but it still could have done so with yourself at the crease your team could have had a batting collaspe and then you would be thinking i could have  prevented  that i as i was well set or i gave the opposition  inroads into our batting. When I started playing an ex  county professional advised to be selfish when batting I've never forgotten it.

Played at a beautiful ground with superb facilities. They put up 194 in 45 overs. We batted them off with an over to spare. Finally made some runs (46) before holing out to extra cover towards the end of the innings.
