Evening match tonight against a university staff side. Picked up a wicket with my 2 overs going for just 6 runs. Some generous bowling changes then allowed the staff to get 112 in 18 overs which we then knocked off in around 14 overs for the loss of just 1 wicket. Not sure I've ever played an evening match so early in the season before but remarkably the light held (it was nice evening up here) and everyone seemed to enjoy the game.

Got humped on Sunday on the flatest pitch and fastest outfield I have ever played on in April. We scored 181, I scored a DNB. Bowled 4 overs for 30, didn't bowl terrible but it felt like one four ball an over. Oppo chased them down in 24 overs!

Played on sunday, we scored 353 off 40 batting first, I chipped in with a horrible 38. They then scored 176 off 40, i got 2 wickets and took a blinder at slips

First game Saturday 1st team - Scored 6 batting at 7, got us past the 175 mark for maximum batting points then top edged an off-spinner taking advatage of the tennis ball bounce on our track... Didn't bowl... took two catches one of which was the best thing I've ever done in any sport and more than made up for the numerous catches I dropped last year. We were 212 for 8 dec. Opposition got to 112 for 7 and the game was a draw.

Sunday - bowled for the first time since early last season when an Aussie hit me for about 24 in one over. faired better this time 5 for 30 off 8 overs. Hit a quickfire 29 then got given a very dubious LBW (We had 5 LBW's to their 0.) Ran out my best mate who was going along nicely and trying to make an impression. Opposition scored 224 for 8 we were all out for 126.

Played first game of T20 tournament on Saturday Scored 147 all out from 19.5.  147 is below our average score from last season but a good total considering early wickets.

Fall Of Wickets: 1-9 (1.3), 2-14 (2.1), 3-51 (7.4), 4-60 (8.4), 5-63 (9.2), 6-65 (10.4), 7-132 (17.2), 8-142 (18.1), 9-147 (19.4), 10-147 (19.5)

Very bad start to our bowling with 2nd over going for 12 and 4th over going for 22 with 25 of them being extras in wide/byes as both the bowler and keeper were struggling due to lack of practice and outrageous early swing.
We were able slow them down due to frequent wickets. The opposition needed 30 from last six overs. it came down to 6 from last over with opposition 9 wickets down.

Dramatic last over:
Single, single, no-ball, free-hit (Bowled), now 3 from 3 needed to win and batsman got enough width to cut it over point fielder for 4.

Opposition wins by 1 wicket with 2 balls to spare with (Extras - 52, being their top scorer). So it hurts as it was our game to lose and we lost it by the way of extras.

To me, it doesn't matter how good you are. Sport is all about playing and competing. Whatever you do in cricket and in sport, enjoy it, be positive and try to win.

I had my first outdoor cricket of the season in form of a game of Last Man Stands. It did not go well.

I felt very good with the bat, was feeling very comfortable but I stupidly got carried away and skied one after facing about 6 balls. Need to remember that I have more time than I think, even in T20.

No Cricket for me this Weekend opposition rang our Captain on Tuesday evening stating he could not raise a side but I do wonder whats going on when matches are cancelled due to lack of players on a Tuesday also this means unless our clubs players have individually netted with other clubs indoor or outdoor they will go into next Saturdays  first league match without any practice.

In friendlies, I don't get why teams don't say they can't raise teams so early. They can keep, searching until Thursday and then, maybe the oppos can dig up,some players or give them fielders etc.

Just get a friendly on

Think you may get your wish Cam as the forecast I have seen is pretty crappy for Saturday.

I was expecting to play and had confirmed my availability, but a mix up with names meant that the captain thought I had pulled out so wasn't selected. He is now in a bit of a fix as needs my bowling, but doesn't want to drop one of the other guys having told them they are playing. So now I am stuck with waiting to see if anyone can't make it  :(

From what I've been told by our grounds man we'll be lucky to get a game at all! Forecast crap from tomorrow night apparently.

As I posted the other week our outfield is a sandpit at the moment, so he's been doing a rain dance non stop! We could do with some rain to help wash it in.

I will be fuming if its called off for so many reasons. LMS don't call games off unless they have to have to. But it takes me an hour to get there so if it is called off I probably won't know until I am there because of the tube. And it starts at 9 so I would have got up for no reason!! All very stupid!

Couldn't agree more Thursday is ample time to call a Saturday match off  or turn up with eight split into two teams And have a game.
