Took a catch at mid on, fielded terribly throughout the rest of it, scored 8 runs before being an idiot.

Ridiculous game of cricket today, played Haverhill, and they won the toss and elected to bat on our flay Woolpit esque road! 40 overs later they have 299 on the board, us having dropped there number 3, 4 times and he went on to get 151 n/o. We then proceeded to chase it down, so 600 runs scored in 80 overs. If anyone wants to bat on a road next year, PM me!

Was invited to play a 40 over friendly this afternoon for a team I guested with earlier in the season and really enjoyed the game. Opposition was a touring side from Scarborough and on a batting friendly wicket, they totalled 150 all out. After tea our batting order was sorted by drawing lots and I managed to bag No.1 so opened and got 30 not out before having to retire. Touch of controversy as opposition's first change bowler was clearly throwing the ball but he was barely medium pace so it wasn't a problem for me but one of our team took such umbrage over his action that he left the ground in protest !!!!  Anyhow the match continued without any further problems and we ran out winners with a few overs to spare.

Having moved clubs this season, I'm back enjoying my cricket once more having only played 8 games last season at my old club. Playing in a new league and with a new home track it's taken me a while to adjust. Scored about 150 more runs this season on a Saturday than I have in any of the past three seasons with a highest score of 46. Last two consecutive Sunday's I scored 50 and 92. If only the season could start now!

A public thanks to fellow forum member and skipper @19reading87 for inviting and encouraging me to join and also @uknsaunders for making me feel welcome in my first season.

Good to have you on board. I think already you have been a real asset to the club and there is plenty more to come. Certainly playing a few Sunday's helps  ;) . You were unlucky to miss out on your ton yesterday.

Just need a few more forum members to join us in deepest warwickshire!

I've moved up to 802 with 3 potential games left.

Going into the weekend I was on 718, managed a 52 in 18 overs on Saturday followed by a 32 yesterday. I was particularly aggrieved as our skipper was late so someone else did the toss and elected to field against a team that we play regularly but who never scored over a hundred against us. Sure enough they were all out for 64. Nevermind, I opened and scored 32 before being absolutely triggered by the guy who did the toss' son! He was trying to explain that he thought it was hitting leg when the bowler came over and apologised saying it was going miles down leg and that he didn't even appeal.

Makes it harder but I'm coming into some form, just need to get a decent ton and I'm there for the 1000 I think!

So played my final game of the season today, lovely day nice and warm, track had been covered but was still a little damp oppo won the toss and elected to bat, opener nicked first ball and 1st & 2nd slip just looked at each other and he went onto make 125no  :(. Played quite well from there on in just put the bad ball away. I had a little bowl 6 overs 1 for 31 which was nice as I don't bowl much any more. Oppo made 213-8 from 40

Opening up made a good start and my opening partner had one stick in the pitch a bit a spooned a catch to point, I managed to get to a solid 34 which for me this season was good and then managed to slap a low full toss to point as well, the team today was made up of 3 1st team and 8 colts of various ages and was good to see them give a good account of themselves and got us to 189-9 in reply. A great tea and good weather was a good finish to what all in all has been a poor season personally. There is always next year though, roll on April 2016

Well I made the transition back to rugby today, played in the first league game of the season having missed all of pre season. Bagged myself a hatrick, and strolled in from 80 metres out, which surrised most of the opposition as you dont expect your number 7 to gas a full back!

Damp squib sorta day. Fielded first, didn't do well but got a run out at the end. Oppo got 117 off 38, we did that in 30 odd. Didn't bat or bowl. Meh.

Gonna start work pretttttty soon on being half decent, lots of nets...

Friendly yesterday. The oppo had ten and batted first. One of their guys got a big 100 and they posted 204, however in the process the guy smashed a ball which hit his partner in the arm causing him to retire hurt and miss the rest of the game.

They came out with 9 therefore and got two early wickets before I came in and got a 50*. They then literrally gave up with us still requiring 130 runs in 20 overs. Every time my partner hit the ball, they let it go through their legs or made no effort to cut it off. He farmed the strike much to my annoyance and he scored his second 50 with me facing about 6 balls, which wasn't helped by the fact he was hitting balls straight to fielders which should have been one only to watch them miss it or kick it over the boundary.

We ended up winning by 8 wickets but it wasn't an enjoyable game at all in the end. I'm on 860 runs for the season and I only have one game left, so on another note I'm also annoyed about having blown my chance at 1000 for the season.

Last game today and was enjoyable one to finish on. Opposition batted first posting 192 of 35 ended up 30 odd short in the end however did meet someone from the oppo (eltham) who had a lovely custom made county and is on here but do not know his name

Hello @tom line, I had the Hunts!

Was a good game played in the right way - bit late in September for my liking but was certainly a good fixture

Nice finish to the season last night with my clubs awards dinner. Most awards were predictable, but the chairman announced a new award, entirely at his discretion as to the winner for working for the club and going the extra mile so basically a clubman award, so I was delighted to be the inaugural winner of it! Nice to finally get some recognition for the work I put in and that my mother puts in helping organise Sunday games, already looking forward to next season!
