Lovely looking ground I must say and that red ink is huge what is the weight of it mate

It's 2.14. And it is huge.

The ground is lovely if a little small. Shane we only get to play there once a year.

Arggghhhh!   Exciting game today but we really should've won!!!

Batted on a post-apocalyptic cabbage-patch and posted a pathetic 105 AO. Egham then chased and made equally hevy weather of it, posting 106-9 (your truly bending out another 3 victims!)

The winning single was a thick under-edge through the slips.

Plumsacks!!!

So as mentioned a page or two ago, first game since I was about 14 today. The other teams Sunday side was largely made up of colts who were obviously a class above us. Pitch was a bit damp, any boundary on a normal side just went along slowly. They won the toss and batted

Got them to 50-2 then they put in a good partnership that got them in the 150s or so. Their last 6 wickets went for 4 runs, 171 all out after 32 odd overs. Got asked to bowl despite them never having seen me before, started really well before chucking along some absolute tripe. 3 overs, 18 runs, but ultimately a learning curve that will come with time.

Was down to bat at 8, opening batsmen got caught probably cheaply and they worked their way down. Went in and scored 10 runs, felt good to get bat on ball after so long out etc, and like I said it was playing shots and getting singles, although I did get a shot down straight drive for 4. Got stumped in the end, not surprising since my only intent was to just slog and see what happened; should have maybe been caught a few balls beforehand.

All in all, really good fun and happy to have survived a few balls, let alone put up 10 runs. Next target is more than that.

Season done for me as I'm off on holiday to Portugal and missing the last league game. Total of 270 runs at almost 21. Bit disappointed really as 251 of those were from weekend games at almost 28 in 10 knocks. Midweek let me down as only 21 runs from 5 knocks, odd really as although I'm trying to bat better I'm still a bit of a slogger at heart and midweek is usually my better format.

I've really tried to bat better at weekends and have felt a lot better, more runs scored from straight drives rather than slogs to cow. Also really dug in sometimes to score runs over more overs as opposed to rapid 20 and out.

Bowling wise after getting fitter over last winter I was hoping to bowl more this year but not really worked out. Only 17 overs in total, best figures 2 for 23 off 7 - gutted really as I used to open bowl at a decent level when i was younger but 10 years off and I've never been able to get a rhythm or consistent line and length in the few short spells I get these days. Still think of myself as a bowler as i was always a number 11 bat when I was younger - still, theres always next season.

We won at Louth yesterday, they were 2nd in the league and were (still are) top with one game to go.  It would be great if we could win Division 1 as the club has never done that before.

I was 0 not out batting at 9, but I don't mind because we won.  That's my season finished as I'm on holiday next week, hopefully we can close it out.

I'm fairly pleased with my season, I've batted OK, better than last year.  Also took my first ever hat trick.

Cheers. Although my right palm is now bruising up nicely from a runout attempt, I forgot what it's like to hold a match ball.

Pointers anyone? Or does this pain factor get better with time?

Gets better, my hands always get a bit sore after the first fielding session after the off season.

We were meant to have a game against the Botswana national team today which would've been a good day, safe to say the weather got in the way, total wash out!

Well and truly beaten at the weekend, 324ao plays 112ao. Oppo number 5 scored 160 in 87 balls, including 14 4's and 14 6's. Was carnage, yorkers going over mid on for 6. On the sunday it transpired that he was using a laminate bat to do all the damage with.

We were playing Millom 1st XI. A much better side than us but should have made a better fist with our chase. Most of the boundary's hit would have went regardless of the bat he was using.

I actually feel more sorry that you had to go to Millom in the first place haha
