I would say Rashid benefits from the seam attack around him and Ansari is a gun fielder. He also opens the batting which is far from his natural position, I can't see Rashid doing that!
Regardless, Rashid bowls slow loopy leggies which can be ok in an odi when the batsman have to chase runs. In a test match he will just get picked off.

Ansari is just starting out as a spinner and has been the best county spinner this year. That is some achievement.

Rashid will improve. Don't dump him for good. But for now - not good enough. Had yasir shah been playing this game, it would have really highlighted how far behind Rashid is from test level. But...he has enough potential to be given a run in a year or so.

Adil Rashid will only get better from here.

I really think ECB is missing their former spin coach, Mushtaq Ahmed. With young spinners, he would have really flourished them and they would have improved leap and bound! These guys need a good mentor who can tell them about spin bowling outside English conditions.

Jordan called up as replacement....I presume simply to stand in slips and catch everything

Can only be to replace Bell at 2nd slip because he has no chance of taking a wicket on the roads in UAE.

Must be, although he did end the season opening the batting for Sussex so they could be covering Cook in case his finger injury gets worse! Surprised they didn't call up a pace bowler instead like Footit to replace Finn.

Big difference going 1/150 against Tendulkar and Shastri than getting tanned by Malik and Hafeez...

When the the pitch become a road? Just because it's not a raging green top doesn't make it a road. I'm sure the Pakistani fast bowlers will get more out of the pitch.

It was more of a general assessment of typical UAE pitches often being slow easy batting tracks in the first innings, how can I possibly have been referring to Chris Jordan's chance of taking a wicket on the pitch that they are currently playing on when he has only just been called up to the squad half an hour ago?

along with plunkett who is already with the squad.

The talk on sky at lunch is that a left armer would have been a better option, possibly footit or willey. id say footit would be a decent shout been bowling well for a few years and hits 90mph regularly and swings it late!
