They needed 72 off 75 when they lost their second wicket. They could have cruised home on singles. But Kohli thought he was invincible - the sledging with Faulkner and the self congratulatory smiles were obvious to see - and that rubbed off on Dhawan as well.

One can argue he gave Faulkner a belting and the sledging didn't work for Faulkner on a personal level. But in the end, it probably won the Aussies the game.

he's clearly not the sharpest tool in the box then Kholi, they were 3 nil down before the game started.

Good batsmen but at that level a ton is just a statistic if you don't see the team home and win the match

I don't even know if shocker is the right word to use when describing their chase! I understand teams have collapses but to be ahead of the rate and cruising they did mess it up a fair bit

IMO you guys are over reacting :) What else did you expect from this team?

1) Dhawan is too inconsistent.
2) Kohl is good but, he talks too much...more often than not it will bit his ass(and India's).
3) Dhoni is past his prime. Keeps giving lame excuses after every loss. How the bleep can he chop n change Rahane's batting position so many times?
We all know how Rahane bats in IPL...yet Dhoni sends Jaddu before Rahane (not just this game...it happened in the past)! On what basis Jadeja is considered a better hitter?
Did he ever score convincingly at international level?

Please watch below video , Ganguly nailed it. I know it will never happen. Indian cricket administrators can never think like Aussi. I have completely stopped following Indian cricket.

Rahane was down the order because he suffered a hand injury. But once again India's lack of batting depth has bitten them in the (No Swearing Please). Can't do much about injuries but Dhoni, Mann, R Dhawan and Jadeja aren't offering anything with the bat.

That said well bowled by Richardson to bag a 5fer.

#3 Marsh prevented Australia from getting a 400 total. What is he doing at #3 in an ODI team? He is better suited for Test  cricket. All the hard work by Finch and Warner nearly down the drain by that slow poke.

Mitchell Marsh batted 3, not Shaun. Mitch was promoted because he's usually a biffer

Putting aside the fact Kohli's bit of a nut job, his ODI is scary good.

25 100s in only 162 digs, considering Tendulkar scored 49 100s in 452 digs, Kohli could well smash that record.

Interesting reading.
10 in India
5 in Bangladesh
1 in England
0 in South Africa

Indian... Graeme Hick???  ;)

IMO Kohli not even close to Tendulkar/Gavaskar

Kohli plays  to win, he has got guts and believes in himself. Yes he gets in to arguments  and refuses to be cornered but he backs up with his skills. He has a good record of organising his innings for chases. I think he did his job and more. There is always a purpose  to his game play, this loss can't  be pinned on him.

Nowhere did I say Kohli is better than Tendulkar. I said Kohli will get more ODI hundreds.

That also aside you do know that Tendulkar only scored 1 ODI hundred in Australia in 40 odd matches right? He also only had 1 in New Zealand.

Kohli's the best chaser in the business by a stretch, like Palmist said, it's the way he organises his innings in a chase, that's the key in my opinion.

I didn't say that you did.. I was using my Tendulkar/Gavaskar as a benchmark.
No I was not aware of the Tendulkar stat, but I know he scored more than 1 in England and at least 1 in South Africa, so to be honest I don't see your point.
Of course Kohli has time on his side but I don't think he will score more centuries away from India than Tendulkar did.
Tendulkar was a humble player who knew his flaws and worked very hard on his game throughout his career to ensure he was one of the best.
Kohli has had the same failings for the last 3 years so role on the next tour of England...
