Indeed he has a great average  :) thankfully thou 'you are remembered for the way you play the game, not your statistics'

Said someone very wise indeed...

Total tosh.

Statistics is what everyone remembers.

Whether it's Bradman's 99.94, Federer's 17 majors, Schumacher's 7 championships, Jordan's 6 rings.

Looking pretty at the crease doesn't pay the bills...

Stats tell you only so much and generally speaking it's very hard to compare era's so they become less relevant.

Bradman played on uncovered pitches in an era with little protection-his average is not the only reason he is considered the best ever.

Stats are stats, it's how you play that fans remember.

Australia top order batting averages

David Warner 50.06
Joe Burns 49.25
Usman Khawaja 49.54
Steve Smith 60.18
Adam Voges 95.50
Mitch Marsh 23

Those are some serious numbers, hopefully Marsh can get up around 35 and still do damage with the ball.

He wasn't remembered very fondly as a person.

Yeah good luck with that.

I'm pretty sure in 15-20 years time Chanderpaul will be remembered as a legend whereas technically correct players like Vaughan and Bell will be nothing more than footnotes...

Bell maybe.
.Vaughan if you watched him paste the Aussies around Australia in 2002/3 it would live with you in a way that 49 not out off 399 ball in 6days would not. But then you are just trolling.

Vaughan 'pasted' Australia was a one off. He never came close to repeating that level...

Chanderpaul is already a legend to anyone that knows cricket at all. Vaughan for what he did in 2002 isn't a legend of the sport but he is a ashes legend. Just like Johnson secured his legendary ashes status in 2013

Voges avg what?? 28?? Yeah he's class 😂😂😂👌👌👍👍🙈🙈

I see your point but it's not quite as clean cut as stats over everything else, stats would suggest Voges is close to Bradman's equal and that Burns is better than Langer which simply isn't anywhere near the truth.

If Burns averages 49 after 100 Test he might be better than JL, otherwise no way Jose!
