Definitely not. However, as our good friend cattus pointed out I have had a bit of a monchrome vibe going - before it was fashionable even - and purely by accident. The perpetrators are Aldred, B3, Ayrtek, Affinity, Salix and Blank Bats in various bats and softs, with Vitas and IJC in the mix as suppliers - and this site as the facilitator.  :D

This forum is dangerous. Having just spent £550 with Jake at Vitas, I find myself wanting H4L stuff more and more, an Affinity Spectre, and a B3 bespoke. WHat is happening to me

You now know why this forum is terrible I mean brilliant for all kit and yes bank balances do vanish rather quickly

Isn't what you're actually saying here: I'm pretending that I'm sponsored?

Know a few players who have had a kit discount and claimed there sponsered.

Or you are saying I am ocd and like matching kit
Or I like this brand and want to support them

Or you got a deal.

It isn't our place to judge.

A batsman should wear what he feels comfortable in batting as it will help. If that is matching kit great, if not who cares.

B3 knocked me 50% off a bat, must be my average of 15 that got them interested

Nope, not at all. Some of us just like to have matching kit, I'm not pretending anything I'm not, particularly given the standard I play - it would be quite unusual/rare to see someone sponsored in our league.

Also many of the smaller brands tend to offer a discount for softs when buying a bat and offers for 'bundle' deals are on the increase through retailers such as IJC.

I dont have matching kit.
I have NB pads and a blank bats bat.

But when I pulled out my black gray nicolls gloves at a bowling machine I heard the bloke in the next net shout "that kids sponsored" and point.

I soon shattered that illusion though, as I had to go bat.

I perhaps didn't mean literally, as in trying to genuinely convince team-mates or the opposition. Rather, I meant, as in acting out a fantasy in your own mind?

It wasn't a dig at anyone in particular.

When I was younger I imagined I would always have matching kit once I could afford it (or someone actually did sponsor me!). Now I possibly can afford it, I tend to think that it looks a bit daft - like the person wearing it thinks they are better than they really are?

Know where you're coming from, we've all played against that bloke with matching gear who takes himself a bit too seriously and is clearly attached to the looking sponsored idea. Not everyone with matching kit is like that though, played with/against plenty who get all their kit from a local brand or something similar, or just like the look of certain kit!

Personally I'm not bothered if I have matching brands as long as I have a theme in the kit at the minute I have rather plain kit with hints of colour (green) and that goes form my pads (Newbury tt) gloves (h4l custom) spikes (puma calibre) thigh pads (aero p2) just my bat that doesn't match it all and that bugs me! Really want a b3 with green stickers and white grip... Matching it for me works just doesn't have to be all the same brand of that makes sense

Having said all that, I definitely feel greater symmetry when I wear my GM gloves, rather than my Newbery gloves, with my GM pads.

Not that it matters but I think matching kit looks better.
