Oh mankad.. That's a good response to these types of players (especially the one saying they run the ball is basically dead!)

Just start mankading every ball  such things back to the batsmen to annoy them

Did anyone see the maxwell and wade run out a few years back?


Maxwell was hitting it to long on and taking a single, but noticed long on merely floated it back to the the stumper.

So on the third time as soon as the fielder floated it he screamed for a one and took off.
Unfortunately for him wade wasn't paying attention and just stood there, and maxwell ended up ran out at the bowlers end.

The worse thing in sunday cricket is the pace of it. Couple of cheeky singles just adds to the fun of it and speed it up a bit

Ah yes but we are all the keen beans who take it seriously like running on the keeper, running on Sunday's to people's arms and generally other tricks to steal us a few more runs

Tbh, Sunday's if someone wants to run I'll happily roll it in for them if they are that desperate, not going to wang it on a Sunday

Here we have one Side of the argument, blokes who want a quick spirited game who believe the slow and steady chaps are ruining it.


And argueing with him.

The other side, a chap the likes a slow and steady day out at the cricket, who believes the biffers and competitive run scorers are ruining it.


Don't think eithers gonna win really.

Agreed, hence on Sunday's or in friendly stuff (and yes, Sunday league is basically friendlies ) you have to play in a way which suits the majority. So, no point is turning up, batting first amd smashing 300+ and then skittling a side for 150 because they are demoralised and know they don't stand a prayer.

Similer you don't take the mick and bowl joke bowlers with 5 slips to gift meaningless runs.

All about balance and making it fun for 22 blokes, otherwise you may not have a game as less and less want to play.

It is very hard and we are all selfish the majority of the time

One game I got moaned at for bowling our 13 year old and having 3 slips, a gully, point and backward point, this was me trying to give them some runs to make more of a game. and allow all their players a fair bat, as they were 25 for 2 chasing 200. To be fair our youngun he did take 2 of their wickets at 3rd slip and quite a few dropped short of those behind the bat in his 3 over spell.. Think we only won by 15 runs in the end

Credit for making a game of it, which is at least the right spirit and 200 isn't 'too many' to Chase either (unless you always have power that they know you can just end the game with whenever you want etc)
