We won the toss and elected to bowl on a pitch offering absolutely eff all.

They scored 147-7, we chased it 6 down with two overs to go, captain scoring 94. Didn't bat or bowl, fielded OK.

So cold...

Yesterday Royal Ascot vs Royal Ascot
Royal Ascot won (surprisingly).
The team I was on batted first, I came in at 4 which was a pleasant change from between 8-11 normally
Unfortunately I didn't capitalise and got bowled for a duck, so I'm expecting back to 8-11 for the rest of the season
Bowling wise I was quite expensive in comparison to normal, and didn't take any wickets either.
But we won so I was happy

Today it was Royal Ascot vs Findlers. Findlers batted first and amassed 150 from their 40 overs
I was bowling down the hill for the first time in the 3 game I have played this season so far, and bowled 6 overs, and had figures of 1-10
I also took a catch at square leg, although I did juggle it
Batting wise I was due in at 8, but want required as we chased the total 2 down with 5 overs left

All in all a good weekend for me, with two games, and two wins!

What sort of standard is Royal Ascot CC mate? I'm working at LVS Ascot from September and was looking for a club round there. Considering Burnham, Slough or Windsor.

@Batbuddy99  - did Hanky-Dad play today? He might have been deadly on a green-top?

We have 4 teams ranging from div 2 to div 8 of the TVL, so we cater for the majority of age ranges
We play inside the racecourse also, which is pretty fun
Currently fundraising for a new pavilion, of which the designs look mega
Always looking for new players too, so will be great if you did decide to join us
Hope this helps

Hanky-Dad turned down playing both yesterday and today to work on his car refurb project, sadly

Saturday
2 games for the club. Game vs Cheltenham they called off due to drop outs.. poor show. Second game ended up with one team fielding a 1xi and the other a 2xi/3xi. 258 off 45  was chased down inside 35 overs by the stronger side. Decent pre season though other than the 'good' team didn't do retirements so less of their lads got a bat. My game was the one cancelled :(

Sunday

Today we again ended up playing a near 1xi with a team that had myself and everyone else was a 3xi.. We obviously let them bat first as it's pre season and a friendly and they amassed 291-2 off 40, zero retirements. I stupidly kept wicket but at least I didn't have to chase the ball.. didn't do too bad considering I'm not a keeper at all.. nope.. nadda..  When we batted they bowled their 1xi bowler and overseas so I had to open and just hold an end up. The 3xi lads did well, surviving but a mixture of being most of theirs first game and being out classed meant we didnt' score many.. ended up with about 170 off 40 for 5/6 and I ended on 84 falling in the last over of the game having a slog. zero chance of us chasing 291 down so didn't see the point of doing anything other than having a net. Our lads to their credit realised they were out classed and pretty much said 'just stay in regardless until the last over'.. so I did.

Enjoyable day, both sides got a good pre season game out of it which is the whole point. shame they didn't retire but some people just love having big scores next to their name.

Hastily arranged friendly against far stronger opposition for us yesterday on the pitch next to @edge
They play 2 divisions above us and had a largely 1st XI so we let them bat and they got 262-9 from their 40 which we were fairly content with.
I kept like a brick wall though, missing a stumping on the way and only picking up the one catch. Must do better!
With minimal batting I hung around for a while scratching 22 and putting on 50 for the 1st wicket. Good to spend some time at the crease grooving my classy leave  :)
Never in with a shout of chasing it we ended up on 187-7 with my opening partner making his ton off the final ball.
8 bowlers used by each side, almost everyone getting a bat so all in all a good preseason friendly.

Wow that was cold.... Fielded and batted in three jumpers.

First league game on a Sunday today, opposition got 149 off 35 overs (delayed start due to rain). I bowled 7 overs for 33, 1 dropped catch and a fair few Chinese cuts and plays and misses.

We were all out for 90 odd, I scored 10* at 11 in what was meant to be a very strong batting line up. Two clips through midwicket raced away to the boundary. Felt really comfortable at the crease, hopefully it will continue with a few more decent opportunities.

first game for about 4 tears today after netting all winter, batted at 3 out for 1 nicking off after about 4 overs at the crease, felt comfortable without doing anything, first ball was really nervy but after that felt much more confident, hopefully after a few more games the runs will start to flow and ill pick gaps a bit better and also judge where singles are

To bowling, first time  bowling spin got a few to grip but line wasn't there for thos first over went for 3 second went for 12 two bad balls cost me really! and and dropped a sitter but not the worst drop of the day by far!!!

just looking forward to getting my teeth into the season now!

I hate cricket.

Yesterday got 44 against a good side.

Today was asked to play Sunday as we are short, Sunday side is normally for juniors that don't get much games on a Sunday, so standard is low.

Got a very scratch 13, dropped twice and never felt like ever finding the middle........ Lost heavily to

Did a good viewing of the first over of you batting before we got started again, leave seemed in good order! Looked like it was swinging round corners from the boundary. Good day for leaving, one of our openers got off the mark I think in the 14th over 🙈

After last week's washout, Saturday kicked off my league season with a disappointing result away in Leeds.

Got relegated down the batting order to No.10 (in fairness I scored all my runs in the Player Pool last season) and ended up 1 not out after last 5 wickets fell for less than 12 runs or possibly even less. Think we finished on 116 and I didn't a bowl until opposition were 85-4 but should have had a wicket first over after having one of their batsman caught behind. Did get an LBW off same umpire next over but then one costly over from the other end saw 14 runs taken from it and that virtually sealed them the game (they won by 3 wickets). I ended with just that one wicket for 11 runs off 6 overs. Can't blame the umpire for losing though, we put down the guy who ended up scoring most of their runs at least 3 times and prior to that, were at least 30 runs short of a half decent total.

On the brighter side... at least I found one of my jumpers !!
