Apparently not according to most here. You should enjoy turning up to be abused/get no game etc . Heaven forbid you want to actually get people playing and staying in the game.

So slapping a 65 ball hundred against a bunch of kids will get them rushing back??

Started their innings with 3 slips and a gully, finished their innings with 3 slips and a gully - how proper Sunday cricket should be played.

Don't think we had any more than 2 blokes outside of the ring, proper cricket!
Good stumping as well buddy ;)

But that was okay as it was Eeyore's team batting in the first innings!
Had the opposition batted first and one of their players done that or the team total exceeded 125 you'd have to block out and not attempt to get the runs on principle...  ;)

were there kids there?? Nope

I like how saying send jnrs automatically means 13 yr olds too.

There is a difference in the way you bat, smashing sixes or just hitting in air will demoralise a team. Just placing it around along the deck doesn't unsurprisingly.

Still, it's easy to see why participation is falling given the hostility on show on this very forum. How dare someone not want to be abused doing their hobby.. Still, I'm sure you'll all enjoy your sledging come the weekend because amateur games matter..

great win yesterday, we batted first but didnt bat well at all getting bowled out for 163, oppos sent in their big hitters and they got a great start with a 80 run partnership smashing the spinners around but we got the breakthrough, they were at 110-3 at 1 stage and i thought there goes our promotion,  until the skipper finally decided to take the new ball, om came on our 17 year old and ripped through the team ending up with figures 7-4-7-4, an unbelieveable spell of swing bowling won us the game, bowling the oppos out for 126, big final game next week, relying on 2nd placed team to drop some points and us winning will get us back to back promotions

Perish the thought someone do it to him and his team, just not the way the game should be played!!!

We're not saying being abused doing your hobby is right or correct. However sending juniors to play against them isn't doing anyone any favours and is worse than the other team sledging you as yes your regular team aren't going to like it but it's not going to stop any of them playing again where as sending juniors who are still developing their games against top of the league to get abused and their cricketing careers crippled by it is worse than any sledging that the oppo would give. And the fact that you are actively encouraging your club to send juniors to do this is the worst part of it all much worse than any sledging that will take place and as well as reflecting the selfish attitude that you and your club has (as by your initial post they are also encouraging this) towards simply using juniors to do jobs you, yourself and other team members don't want to.

I can assure you that we probably all agree that being abused on a Saturday isn't fun and many do agree that there is no place for it in the game. But why not just concede the fixture instead of bringing in more inexperienced players to have to deal with the abuse, abuse so bad that even the 1st team opening bat doesn't appreciate.

We asked, league said we can't as the club has multiple teams. Shockingly enough we went that route first.

Why not just ask your first team to get over themselves and play. And then if the sledging is too much report to the league. Much better response and approach

We've done that, league does nothing. Umpires do nothing. As for the getting over yourself.. Yeah because it's our fault we don't want to be abused/sledged by randoms we don't know.

Have any of you considered just turning up to play, ignoring the sledging and having a nice hot mug of man the **** up at the tea interval?  ;)

I've played a lot of cricket and not encountered much sledging at all, maybe we are lucky but when we get it just ignore it and get on with your game. Nothing like beating a team to shut them up.

But that doesn't solve the problem for everyone else..
