Played yesterday in a reduced overs game, cut it down to 35 a side to try and get a game in.
We won the toss and bowled first, we kept them to 152 off 35, i picked up 3-40 off my 11 overs I was allowed. Including managing to try get through my overs in under 80 seconds, which has been achieved.
Our opener then got us off to a flyer scoring 50 off 10 overs, and we were crusing along to victory until we reaching 150-1 off 24.5 overs when the opposition decided it was raining to heavily and we would have to come off, thus leading to us not getting a full set of points and them getting points that honestly they didn't deserve because we had stuffed them

Promotion to div 1 for perivale seconds in the rain yesterday,we have been up and down between 1 and 2 for the last 4 years
On a personal note finished second highest run scorer in the team at nearly 50(age not average!)

More work, more practice, more nets over the winter
Couldnt be happier after a terrible 2015 season

Well done Carlo also don't think at nearly 50 age has anything to do with batting  as its just  a confidence thing with a little skill in fact you can be a better player as you automatically do what experience as taught you

What a way to end the season, 1st v 2nd we only needed 1 point to become champions (150 runs or 3 wickets) and we managed to get to 150 runs to win the 2s premier for the first time

Love being rained off - just as you've made a ton of sandwiches... lunches sorted for the next week!!

Our last game is next week. 3 teams on 42 points, 2 on 44 points. Due to how fixtures have fallen, only 4 teams of the 5 can be in with a shot of relegation due to NRR. We should be safe, but can never be sure until 90 overs are played on Saturday!

New blade for me, so will be going big.

Played my final game of the season today against @tommo256 side Woolpit today. Both sides with nothing to play for league title side was played in a great Sunday spirt. We lost the toss and were invited to bat on what is always a lovely track. Opened with my partner and unfortunately after last nights rain I ran off the strip turned and slipped on my (No Swearing Please) and my partner was coming for the 2nd and was run out which wasn't ideal as he can motor the score board along.
After a slow start I got going oppo had 2 slips and gullys in the whole way and runs were plenty our No3 hit some of the biggest 6's seen some carrying a good 80Yards poor @tommo256 taking a it of tap but always with a smile. We put on 120 odd until the curse of the crap balls get wickets started and he scooped a half tracker high and was caught. I followed just after scoring my 50 LBW and I was plumb. The next could of bats kept scoring at good rate and we scored 239-5 in the end which was a decent total

In reply we got off to a great start getting one of there very good batters out when his opening partner hit one straight and the bowler got a little touch on to the ball into the stumps and he was run out. There youngsters then kept them up with rate losing wickets along the way but was always touch and go who was going to win, we got our noses in front when they got to 150 odd for 5 until a couple of there lads including @tommo256 came to the crease and the huge 6's carried on with my fellow forum member smoking a couple of monsters into the straight field eventually we got the last 3 wickets winning by about 25 runs. Great game to end the season for me with a win and a great game

As soulman said, was a cracking sunday game of cricket. Pleased to have finally realised what end of the bat to hold, and managed to time the nuts off a couple

dissapointing end to the season as the rain put an end to our chances of promotion, we finished 9 pounts short of the second placed team so we end up staying in our division, lots of positives throughout the season, including some top quality youngsters coming through and stepping up to the plate, looking forward to next season already

Anticlimax to end all anticlimaxs.

Going into last 3 weeks title could be anyone's. Top less than a win clear. Us second. And thirds only a point behind us.
Top still to play third and the us vs third last game of season. It's was gonna be a great and tense run in.

Unfortunately all 3 weekends lost to the weather, and some dodgy bonus point rules cost us third(on a postage stamp of a ground, third were skittles out for 126 before the rain came, yet were given two bonus points which put them above us. This ground is a 200 plus every week ground were we made 289!)

Cricket is awful sometimes! Grrr

Team.

Finished top half of the 2nd XI table.  Unfortunately, our 1st team got relegated out of the Sussex County league structure, which means we drop as well.

Personal.

I've played 7 games this year.  3 home / 4 away.

Batting wise I have had a 3 home / 3 away split.  I've got 'zero' runs at home !  107 away from home.

Bowling wise, I've picked up 2 wickets at 68 a piece with a strike rate of 129.

I am going to forget this year happened !

It rains, my runs didn't count :-(

Although it was amusing that when I got my 50 the other batter was on 2, our total was 58 and byes was my nearest competition.

Needless the the shouts of "get on with it" were most definitely flowing

As a year review...I have a lot of work to do to be more comfortable in my technique. just bed it in. I feel a few winter CBF nets
