Back in the early 1980's in NZ Glenn Turner used DF bats, in particular the Magnum. There is a video of him scoring 140 in an ODI with it, back when centuries were quite rare in one dayers. Apparently his bat weighed over 3lbs.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JcCSWlzF9n0They were expensive and it was mostly the rich kids that had them. They were also the first bats I recall seeing with thick square edges. I had a friend that had a 'cleanskin' Magnum and who only used it a handful of times then left it sitting in the cupboard until I pursuaded him to sell it to me. It was used in the nets a lot and ended up getting thrashed around a bit.
As for the DF Attack. I had another mate who had one back in 1984. They were more common with youngsters in my cricketing circles and appeared to be marketed more toward the youth market and a more affordable option to the junior cricketer in comparison to the Magnum. When the England team toured NZ in 83/84 in remember Bob Willis using one!!!!!
