What weight bat do you use and why?
« on: June 20, 2016, 05:30:30 PM »

As the title suggests - what weight bat do fellow forumites use and why?

I personally use 2.8-2.9 because I find using anything heavier means I try to hit everything out of the park which is detrimental to my game. I also found that heavier than 2.10 tends to aggravate my tennis elbow.

2,7-2,8 as I'm a very wristy player and a heavy bat limits this

I'm down to 2.8 now
I've got tennis and golfers elbow and a touch of arthritis I my left thumb
And I'm struggling with that
I've got a couple of bats that I'm gonna take down to 2.6 ish and see how they feel

Heard a story yesterday about Ted dexter hitting the longest six anyone's ever hit at Radley school.
The bat weighed 2.4!!!
Food for thought

2.10 - 2.11 at the moment, although I don't always check the weight immediately. I'll pick up the bat and see how it picks up and feels giving it a swing and if it's right it's right.

I think mine is about 2.8, I mainly use around this weight as I am embarrassingly weak!

Keep your heavier bats northern...three months of exercise and the strength in the arm is coming back slowly.i used a 2lb 11 bat at the weekend.

And no one since Arthur Morris has hit it over the lords pavilion and I'm sure he didn't use a bat with edges the size of a wardrobe

I'm gonna nurse it through the season, then train through the winter.
Can't get to the gym during the week with three under five yr olds

Little lads team played Somerset a coupla years ago where buttler pulled one square, that's apparently still travelling
My lad said his bat weighed nothing, and jos said he wouldn't be able to bat with my lads bat, that weighed 2.10!

Anything between 2-10 and 2-12 usually, though I have a beautifully balanced RK that is 3-1 and makes everything fly when I'm batting well.

I find I keep my shape through shots better with a heavier bat, but I get tennis elbow if my bat is more than 2-11 so I use a bat in the 2-10 to 2-11 region with a low middle.

@Buzz interesting one that - im exactly the opposite - I think because I feel I have to throw my hands through the ball in order to get the bat down quick enough haha.

Anything between 2.6 to 2.12 as long as it feels good in the hands, and gives me a good idea of the exact location of the sweet spot during the back lift till the timber meets the leather.
