No details seem to be out on the vote yet but the telegraph (who seem to have been interestingly accurate on ECB matters in recent years) have listed the 8 probable teams as :

North London
South London
Trent Bridge
Birmingham
South
Red Rose
White Rose
West

So what grounds?

Lords
Oval
Trent bridge
Edgbaston
Rose bowl
Old Trafford
Headingly
Cardiff

Pumping more money into test counties and sucking the life out of others!

With those teams there isn't much represented far up north is there? White rose stretching up to North Yorkshire is the furthest I guess

Agree!

Would have liked to have seen,

Oval
Taunton
Durham
Cardiff
Trent bridge
Old Trafford
Durham
Chelmsford

All always seem to get good lively crowds and always seem fairly decent wickets for t20

Being in a Kent I guess South London is my new team, I'm sure they will come up with stupid names yet, hoping for the South London Cockneys

Fairly sure Durham have one of the worst attendance records going in t20 cricket from all 18 counties? Saying that I doubt Cardiff are particularly far behind (but the Telegraph article did make it quite clear they were twinned up with Bristol and Taunton as 'West' in their probables list).

Yeay I have always wanted to play for the south London brown caps.

What a lot of garbage. There is zero need for this.

Just put cricket on a free to air channel.

P.s. where will the Essex players play?

The teams will all be drafted. Chelmsford would presumably get perhaps a single North London home game at a guess with Lords getting the other 3?

No details seem to be out on the vote yet but the telegraph (who seem to have been interestingly accurate on ECB matters in recent years) have listed the 8 probable teams as :

North London - Essex
South London - Surrey/Sussex
Trent Bridge - Notts
Birmingham - Warwickshire
South - Kent
Red Rose - Lancashire
White Rose - Yorkshire
West - Glamorgan

So...

Don't we have a competition for these teams already?

T20 Boom... T20 Pop... T20 Fizz...

Can't remember.

North London I presume is Essex and Middlesex with south London being Surrey and Kent,
South would be Sussex and Hampshire I presume

Just seen that only 8 of the games will be on FTA TV. Are the ecb really that stupid that they miss the entire thing that has made Big Bash (which we all know they are trying to copy) so popular and relevant in Oz?

This explains a bit....

Although what i really can't understand is that it says a 50 over tournament and tests will be scheduled during the new T20 tournament so none of the England players will be able to play!

Not really the same situation, but wasn't the Big Bash completely behind a paywall for it's first few seasons?

This is likely to be an epic fail.  There are some issues with the current structure of the T20 Bash, I'll grant you, but this is not the solution (and not just because having Championship games ongoing when half the players have been taken off to it and gigglesville)

The issues, as I see them, would appear to be:
1. We don't get a high enough quality of international players in, which then means...
2. People of the younger variety tend not to be interested...

Make the existing competition two divisions, eight games per team, schedule it over two weeks and allow each team three or four overseas and you acheive more or less everything you need to...

The championship would be stopped for the 5-6 week period the new T20 competition will be running for.
