Free to air is the way forward - putting live T20 games on YouTube and other streaming websites. That's more likely to gain a bigger interest with the younger generation rather than a brand new format which is even making it too complicated for cricketers to understand.
Problem with putting it on youtube is that you actively have to search for it to find it. Which would be fine for me, as I have youtube on my tv and would happily spend 30 seconds typing in "blast cricket" or whatever, but you're not actually going to attract many
new fans that way.
The other problem is what to do to attract kids who don't live in one of the 18 major counties. The junior team I coach (ages 10-15) in Cambridgeshire would happily support Cambridge, happily support Cambridgeshire and happily support England, but put any other teams on and they lose interest within a few minutes - I speak from experience.
Hence I've come to the conclusion that they only way to save cricket is to get
international cricket back on FTA tv.
