M&H has always been on my wish list but what has always put me off for years is their pricing. What seemed to be heavily inflated prices in comparison to other offerings years ago still rings true today with RRP's of £550 on their top of the range bats. Yes there are discounts if not buying direct but this still puts the bats into the £480 range which is much more than custom from a range of batmakers.
Having said that, there are reductions to be had which brings them down to a cost more in line with other mainstream and boutique brands and I bought my first M&H a couple of weeks ago. I picked up a Pro grade International from their 'outlet' for 30% off RRP
My thoughts? I love it, so much so I am thinking of buying another one. Do I know 100% for certain where it is made? No. Does it perform? Absolutely. Right up there with the best performing bats I have had and with time it may be the best, it's too early to tell. Do I care where it is made? No. For some this is a real issue and I can understand individuals' need for transparency but at the end of the day, it performs and it does it very well.
The whole double S comments about the source of the bats have become tedious and as others have said have been done to death on here now and I think some are very quick to jump on a bandwagon without owning or using a bat from that particular brand. I don't know if M&H bats are the same in terms of performance as the older ranges such as the S2, distinction and harlequin as I never owned one of them. Many comment about poor finishing on bats compared to others and at that price point which I can understand that to a certain extent.
I never pictured myself as someone who would use M&H although I liked their offerings from a distance, it was never really an option due to cost. Had I taken the plunge and received something that was poorly made and poorly responding, I probably would never buy again - like any brand but what I would say is don't knock them unless you have tried as I have tried and it's difficult to pick fault with the exception of the finish which is ok but not amazing.
