Northants win! Just goes to show...

(I'm not sure what.)

Alex Wakely said in a pre-season interview that you have to be prepared to lose to win games in the championship and this season as much as possible they would play cricket to do that and try and entertain at tge same time.

All these mediocre South African kolpaks shouldn't be allowed to play in the County Championship. Guys like Sangakkara and Chanderpaul are still run machines and Abbott arguably one of the best bowlers in the world.

Don't see what Vilas, van Zyl, Harmer etc are adding to the championship

Totally agree, why is Vilas any better than promoting one of the Lancs production line of Batsmen. They do love a Kolpak though! Same goes for Smit at Derbyshire, I have no idea what he's doing getting a Kolpak gig!

In defence of Essex & Harmer, they essentially didn't have a spinner (Zaidi & Nijjar don't count!) so seems like a decent route to go down, only other way would have been to try and lure another county's second spinner there on loan (Kerrigan, Rafiq, Crane, Bess, Riley etc)

Panesar looking for a county gig?

Wasn't he struggling for Northants 2nds at the latter end of last season? Not the most promising of signs.

Panesar doesn't deserve another chance IMO, he's had plenty of opportunity over his career and threw it all away through his own actions!

he might of done, but he hasn't killed or injured anyone so before he gets stoned to death on the forum it's his career

if your a taxi driver and have an accident and it's your fault, you admit liability and the consequences of it do you then stop being a taxi driver ?

The man himself reports coming back too soon from injury. True or not, I cannot say.

We (Hampshire) have a harder task against the Yorkies this round. JB & Root in for them whilst we have lost Rossouw and Fiddy to injury.

Should be a good game though!

Oh sh*t - Strauss must have been distracted during the Yorkshire selection meeting!!!

What will the Yorkies have to moan about now?

Didn't Liam Plunkett get injured whilst playing for the MCC pre-season...? That would be my shout.

Edit : Only 1 kolpak in the Hampshire team this week so even that's off the cards  :D.
