Agreed, it riled me up - our teas were poor too so couldn't even stuff my face. Will be hoping to drop down to the 3rd XI and actually do something with my time and money this weekend.

If you don't get a good game then simply refuse to play 2's. If that doesn't work then find another club. You pay your money so deserve a game. 11 players, 5 batters, 5 bowlers and a keeper

First outdoor net done tonight with new club, felt in great nick batting thankfully so can't wait to get the season started Saturday! Also the great news that it looks like my best mate who moved clubs with me will also make the 1s first game so very pleased about that. Sounds like I could get some heavy responsibility with both bat and ball, look forward to it but no pressure!

Played my first 40 overs match last Sunday. Struggled with my bowling run up due to recovering knee and a big knee brace.
Still managed to take 3 wickets off 8 overs and gave 45 runs. Made 24 batting at 6th (3 sixes and 1 Four).

Uni staff, seems like they're a nice fit. Certainly looking forward to the batting tracks judging by the way the square's looking! Thanks mate, best of luck to you as well - captaincy this season?

How did your first Trowbridge games go @neoncricket ?

Mixed bag @DorsetDan , had a few starts but haven't kicked on yet (15, 18, 28). Should note all the teams we've played pre-season have been 2 or 3 leagues above so hopefully come Saturday it'll be a different story when we're at the same level!

Are you still playing with the lads in Warminster??

Cheers Adie - I am in the three's this week so hopefully will get a bat and a bowl.

Yea they've been a decent bunch in the past. Main pitch is good as long as they've fixed the leaky covers now!
Unless they've changed their teas setup though don't be expecting too much...

Yes captaincy for me, nice little trip to Keynsham to ease me in too

Brand spanking new covers, look very smart. Pitch definitely looks like it's improved from my uni days, I've played there enough times to know to take a bit of extra food haha so I'm at least forewarned if that hasn't changed.

Looks like a competitive league for you to say the least, best of luck!

First game coming up at the weekend, really looking forward to it as we are in a new league with new challenges, new grounds and new teas to try out! Last year was a good season for me personally and hopefully I can kick that on again. We have had a good preseason and the team spirit is very high. Let's hope that carries on as the club's been through some difficulties over the last few years.

Midweek t20 friendly tonight well, 15 8 ball overs and retire at 25 game

I managed 30 not out (got to 25 then went back in) hit the ball nicely in an Astro track

Took to wickets and assisted a run out

Midweek game yesterday
DNB, 0-20 off 3 (defending 171 off 16) and took a catch in the outfield

Training tonight and I wish I hadn't bothered. Nothing felt right when I bowled, I've got a horribly swollen finger after a dropped catch and I batted like a blind Chris Martin!

I've been selected for the 5th XI on Saturday. It's a bit of a kick in the teeth as I've been a 2nd XI regular for the last 4 seasons, but at least I'm getting a game.

With how my luck seems to have gone in the pre-season games I'm considering retiring if I don't get a score, another crap game and carrying on much longer would be a form of self torture. I feel as if I hate cricket already and the season hasn't even started!  :(

So you did well in the mid week game.
Screwing up in training often leads to a good performance at the weekend. Keep a positive outlook and remember "the best player is the player that enjoys themselves the most".

As above, remember this is suppose to be fun so regardless of the 'level', just go out there and have fun and enjoy it. People take amateur stuff way to seriously.. it's supposed to be enjoyable
