Generally they didn't say much to be honest they seemed like an alright bunch with the exception of a few - the few that chirped to start with soon shut up as we sent their opening bowler for 20 off one of his overs lol.

A couple of them are good lads. I haven't seen their team but one of the usual gobby ones is their opening bowler so I hope he was the one who got carted!

1st XI lost by 4 wickets.

2nd XI won by 6 wickets.

3rd XI winning draw after scoring 206-4. We lost the toss and were put into bat on a damp wicket, I was then unexpectedly asked to open the batting.
I only lasted 8 overs before top edging one for the keeper to take after scoring 6.
But it seemed it was going to be 6 again with the bowling, after bagging myself 3 early wickets to reduce the oppo to 17-3 they grounded out the next 25 overs to get to 70 something for 5, before I came back on to take another 3 wickets.
For love nor money myself and the other opening bowler couldn't get the old head batsman out and ended up with a winning draw with the oppo on 106-8 off their 40 over.

The less said about Saturday the better, all out for 98 they're opener taking 4 in 4 balls at one point

14 ball duck for me personally got bowled by a decent in swinging Yorker at which point we were 60 odd for 8 after being 15-5

Lost by 9 wickets but we never gave up in the field and kept working hard till the end I cowled two very average overs at the end

On to next time!!

Made scratchy 4 and 7's in my two knocks so far this season never felt like i was in any trouble either time but never felt  like I was going to get going either. Picked up a few wickets but been expensive, not being able to train regularly is hitting me pretty hard.

Skipper on holiday today so I got to be captain. Also facing fellow forumite @HallamKeeper

I got 8 of 23, pitch had some various bounce. It never felt good, edged behind for jack ^^ to smoother easily.

We ended up 229 all out thanks to our no3s 100(only score of any significance).

Oppo ended up 182 for 8 of there 46. Just couldn't buy them last two wickets............ well 8 dropped catches didn't help. Not a good day in the field for us.
But a wind a win.

It was a decent game, probably not the best cricket from either side but played in a very good spirit. Finally got a couple of catches to come my way and I was grateful they were pretty simple. The less said about my attempt to hit your bowler back over his head the better.

Not a bad day for my side today.

Top of the table clash in the midweek league, we bowed the oppo out for 110, yours truly taking 5-21.
Knocked them off in 9.4 overs for a 10 wicket win.

Just after some opinions. Our 2nd team have had to concede this weekend, because as a club we have over 10 players unavailable as they are at Wembley watching Bradford city play off final. Our club isn't the only one affected by the football with players missing, they are a well supported club in our area.

Rearranging all this weekends fixtures was discussed at the league meeting, because of the amount of clubs affected by the footy. But the league have decided to go ahead as planned with the fixtures. For me I can't understand why, it's so simple to arrange other dates for the fixtures, especially as we are so early on in the season, and it would make life easier for so many clubs.

The league sec has said she understands if teams need to concede fixtures, and that if they choose to do so, they won't be punished financially or by point deductions for failing to fulfill fixtures, as opposed to league rules. So she's accepted it's qn exceptional circumstance to warrant that decision, but yet won't just simply allow them to be rearranged to solve all problems. Is this just going against the whole mantra of 'get the game on'?? She's happy for games to be called off/conceded, rather than arrange another date. I just don't understand why?

What do other people think would be the best solution and any other thoughts on the matter?

Last season we cancelled the first week of fixtures and rearranged for the end of the season, due to the terrible weather.  So why not just do something similar now?

Our 1st team is down to 5 proper 1st teamers, and 6 others coming up from the 2nds that were left from the football exodus. Gonna have to dig deep with my own personal batting

Really good day for the club yesterday. Us and the 2nds got maximum points and 3 people got tons (including me) and a guy in the 2nds took 6/19.

Really pleased to get a hundred (107 off 127) after missing out last week.

We won easily in the end, we got 267/7 and then bowled them out for 68.

Somehow my 100 on Saturday made the paper!  :o :o

Not a bad photo of me either, although i am not sure i 'crashed' a hundred at a strike rate of about 80 odd.

@cricketbadger we had the same thing last year with Sheffield Wednesday in the play offs, most games were rescheduled to let cricketers either get down to Wembley or watch it at home/pub. (SYSCL league)

Did you guys not get the same last year when you played Millwall? I guess it was only the Semi's so perhaps not.

I guess we'll have the same again this season if Wednesday beat Huddersfield. Doubt Huddersfield in the Final would cause our league too many problems as Huddersfield have their own league.

The midweek alliance has let tonight's games be re arranged once again because Sheffield Wednesday are in the play offs.

God dam Wednesday ruining cricket every year!!

Difficult one because, well, how do you make a rule that is equal to everyone, and where do you stop it?

A. Lets say club A, losing players, wants to reschedule, but Club B, experiencing a rare peak in availability wants to field its strongest side.  Who gets their own way?  You only need one of these to throw the whole thing out and for someone to be disadvantaged.
B. If you are prepared to do this for a game of football, why not for other things?  A religious festival or fast?  A club wedding? How far do you take it?  It would almost certainly end up in court.

Bottom line is players should have some commitment - if they choose to miss games, their club should suffer.  Over the years I've missed two Yorkshire finals, three Iron Maiden gigs and the chance to go to Download because I believe a commitment is just that...

Our league has a rule that allows you to reschedule a fixture

In exceptional circumstances league fixtures may be rearranged by mutual consent, and with the agreement of the Fixtures Secretary, provided that the Fixtures Secretary is notified and gives his consent not later than 12 noon on the Sunday preceding the date of the fixture. All fixtures to be rearranged must have an agreed date for consent to the Fixtures Secretary within 14 days of the original date. The Fixtures Secretary must notify the General Secretary, the Umpires Secretary, the Registration Secretary and the Media and Results Secretary.

My season yet to get off the ground really. I play for littletown in the Durham Cricket league division 1.

We've not been able to get our usualy overseas pro this year and we've struggled for injuries and players not being available so whilst i'm firmly a 2s player i've been called up to play 1s. Batted for 3 overs to save a match and got 1 before nicking off last week. so played 3 games this season so far and scored 1 run.

cricket can be great and bloody annoying in equal measures!!
