Last league game of the season yesterday and had a TIE!

It means we will finish 2nd as i predicted a few weeks ago and have really thrown the league away this year unfortunately.

Yesterday we batted 1st I got 87 so a nice finish. We ended on 244-9. Oppo went for it the whole way through and needed 15 off the last over and 2 off the last ball and only got a single. So ended as a tie.

Really good game played in a great spirit to end the season.

Season over lost by 4 runs chasing 234 only had 10 players no cup and league double threw it away today.

Isn't 10 the most you've had all season?

Finished yesterday, turned up to watch for an hour and ended up playing, we won though and tea was decent. I played 5 games due to work, illness and injury. I've decided I actually prefer buying new kit to actually playing!

Played top of the league yesterday
It's also the local derby and our last game for the season

Right bunch of weirdos

Anyway,
We batted first and posted 157, one of our youngsters getting a superb ton
I was triggered lbw for the second time this year, attempting a pull a foot outside leg stick
Peed me off a little

We bowled them out for 75
I bowled 7 overs, including a coupla overs of googlies, and got nowt for 25
Not bad considering we only had 9 men and one of our lads wife playing,(she batted and fielded really well)

Not sure if we will finish fourth due to closeness of league, but not a bad start for a newly formed team, with plenty of youngsters and returning cricketers, (and a coupla old timers like me)

Might have a coupla games for the ones, depends how short they are
And I've got a few friendlies to play for another club

Been a good season really, not sure what my avg is or how many runs I've scored,

Thrashed. I had a good day out with a not out, catch and most economic bowler (bowling seam for the first time in nearly 3 months) easy game really.

I've seen the scorecards. The photographer got a video of my brothers hat trick ball as well as a pic of stumps flying. I know what he's getting for Xmas now, big canvas of his hat trick wicket!

Yes sometimes just seven players  still should won 4 overthrows and bowled 34 extras  at home but  still knew we could score  234   with plenty of batting to come our opener took 31 overs to score 48  we were 130 for 1 when he was out wanted 30 off 6 overs when i went in at 5 and was out hooking for 0.
Also  so that opposition could field 11  our  fill in Captain agreed to let  them  play  2 unsigned  players.

Interesting top of the table clash 2nd v 4th. We stuck the oppo in on a slightly damp wicket and it didn't' look a great decision when they were 51-0 off 12. Enter spin twins and the next 30 overs we took 10-50 to bowl them out for 111. Without really bowling very well I took 6-18 off 13 overs. Wicket wasn't turning much just keeping low. We found out how hard it was when we subsided to 35-6. I had to go in because my number 8 was on the bog and probably got away with an LBW first ball, just because I got a stride in. Rode my luck and with the number 7 rebuilt adding over 50, before both departing in quick succession with about 20 needed. Fortunately, 9 and 10 saw it off to win by 2 wickets. Need 6 points next week for promotion, that should be easy bowling bonus points for us.

Played my first game for the Sunday 1's today, and it was over by 4PM!

We lost the toss and bowled, and a steady stream of wickets fell and we had them all out for 88. Didn't bowl but took an absolute screamer of a catch running from mid on to mid-wicket to throw myself over and just get to it an inch from the ground.

Thought i was going to bat 11, but our captain and number 10 decided we'd go out and open, it would be a laugh if nothing else! Batting 3 leagues above my standard, i thought i looked ok for my 9 runs, although they took 15 overs! My fellow opener was out fourth ball, and our number 3 came in and hit 58 to see us home in 17 overs. They had a bloke at short cover trying to give me (No Swearing Please) for batting slowly, just pointed to the scoreboard and laughed.

Finish the league off with an easy win. Promoted, finishing second could and should have won it. The seconds got moved up a division after finishing 4th last year and managed to secure safety on the last day. Pleasing season allround. Finished off with 13 lads staying out on the beer.

Been a cracking yeah, personally disapointed with 300 odd runs at 30. Feel i should have gone on and converted my starts into big scores.

Looking forward to a break, as ive now retired from rugby. Look forward to next year starting with a tour to Devon! Get in touch if you want a game.

Played in a 3 team round robin at my club against two touring yesterday.

I was skipper for our first game, on which I won the toss and chose to bat. We posted 150 from our 20 overs.
I then decided I'd try to give everyone a game rather than blow to opposition away (it was a Sunday after all...)
The opposition got off to a flyer and were well ahead of the rate after 5 overs. I'd held myself and our 1st XI spinner back for the end, and we ended up winning by 8 runs. I picked up a couple of poles at the end and didn't concede a boundary in my 3 over spell.

The 2nd game I handed the captaincy back to our regular skipper. He won the toss and we gain batted. The opposition were talking very seriously, and gave one of our lads a huge send off. Sadly for them it was our 1st XI seamer and this fired him up. He bowled 4 overs of pure heat, picking up 2 wickets and hitting someone on the lid with a bouncer! The other opening bowler helped himself to a couple too, and when I came on 1st change instated with a double wicket maiden! At 37-6 the game looked over. Their tail wagged a bit, with their no.11 top scoring with 30 odd. We won by 4 runs, bowling them out in the 20th over (it ended up a lot closer than it should have been!)

2 wins meant we won the round robin tournament, and I was awarded player of the day for combined figures of 5-27 from 7 across the two games.

It was a great day were everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Pretty much the perfect way to end the season.

Played a friendly yesterday
Lasted 3 balls before being clean bowled

Ball seaming down a slope into me
Big technical issue for me
Ball keeps low too

Our skipper had a lovely lovely hunts county cuarelix that he'd just had made
A proper work of art
And surely some of the best bat branding ever

Yes and no...
If I were to never play cricket again yesterday would have been an awesome way to end!

As it was the last game of the season I'm going to enjoy the break, and have a long think about where I'll be playing next season.

Into the business end of my Saturday season now, 3 games to go and we are top but our gap has narrowed significantly from the middle of the summer.

All we have to do is win our last 3 (and ensure we win & take 10 wickets for maximum points in at least one game) and the league is ours. Not taking anything for granted but our last 3 games are against the two sides who came up last season and are all but down already.

Win and we face a playoff against other leagues in East Anglia to gain entry into the East Anglian ECB premier league.

On a personal note I'm on course to break my PB of 62 wk dismissals in a season :)
