If you play cricket for long enough and buy enough bats you are bound to have the odd dud. I've had GM duds, GN duds, Slaz duds, Fearnley duds and Newbery duds. Sometimes you do wonder if you are in fact dud. I'll normally buy one claim that its crapola and give it to my brother (who is a much better batsman than I am) and shock horror suddenly the bat has a middle.

Had a Bradbury Players model a  few years ago with a lovely middle that was unfortunately the size of a malnourished pea... took it back to GCCC who sent it back to Bradbury. It was returned saying it was fine. In disgust, i left it with the guy at the shop for free! Never bought again.

I've often found the duds turn into absolute guns as soon as they're used by a teammate :-[

Personally biggest dud was an affinity Carbine was 2nd hand but was awful. Apart from that didn't like GM and B3 bats from 2years ago or so but have 2 GM's from this season and both are superb from the get go and my B3 from last years 50% sale offer is also a hell of a lot better than previous offerings.

Wouldn't say a dud but one of the least performing bats I had was H4L NV G2 bought from one of our sponsors. Balance was ok & ping was just average or just below average for me. Passed it on. All of my bats have performed better than that, expected slightly better from a forum sponsor retailer.

A long time ago I had a GN lara scoop. I saved up months for it as at the time I was living in poverty. I loved it until the first game it was used. we were batting in a semi final of a cup competition when our captain/best player broke his bat and called for a new one. I trotted out with my brand new GN and handed it over with great pride. next ball he middle it to mid off, or should I say he hit the ball in the middle of the bat and the ball looped gently to mid-off.  He marched off fuming with anger, when he got to where we were encamped, he bellowed this bat is a "pile of S***" then span around and throw the bat over the perimeter fence and onto an adjacent railway line. The bat was never seen again, but the following Monday he took me down to the local sports shop an purchased me a replacement which was a stunner.

A GM Six6 808 I got from eBay. Picks up great but doesn't clear the infield.
Been using it successfully for tape ball cricket and hit some long sixes.

I never understand these type of things, of course if you take it on face value that the bat you used was a poor one then that's all it should be. I always laugh when i see people asking or saying that certain bat brand and model are awful/great this year. Every brand produces good bats, everyone produces a poor one, i had a mate bring me his GM LE last week to put a new toe guard on it, it was an utter plank even after years of use yet others will swear by them as the best of everything. We all have good bats we all have not so good ones, but just because one person said that theirs was a plank doesn't mean they are

I thought it was an unwritten rule that duds go to ebay rather than the 'for sale' section here.
