With respect to pitches, the only thing I don't like about the tailored home pitches is that it doesn't prepare our players for away series. And because of the aforementioned scheduling, we go 2-3 years without seeing a pitch in Eng, NZ, Aus and SA and there's no continuity to learn. Rahane is our best overseas batsman but doesn't get picked because his overseas record dates back 3 years rather than 9 months with most teams. How are these guys going to improve in a continuous manner? (BCCI rant oveR)

Other than that, I honestly couldn't care less about 'tailored' home pitches. Don't get me wrong, Nagpur 2015 vs SA was a joke, but when India go away the other teams prepare green tops and we know that. There seems to be this notion in recent years that if 13 wickets fall on day 1 to good pace bowling nobody bats an eyelid, but when Ashwin, Herath, Jadeja, Yasir etc take 13 wickets on Day 1 at Nagpur / Colombo, questions get asked. Financial reasons aside, you play to your strengths at home in order to win and I don't begrudge any team who does. It just makes each team's away life even harder as we can see.

If England want to serve up the below 'pitch' on Test 1 Day 1 at Lord's then so be it. You know what to expect in the return series

Actually, I don't think anyone minds if its a raging bunsen a la Dhaka. Its more the low, slow turners that strangle the game that get my proverbials.

Correct - needs to focus on his captaincy. Both he and the bowlers have let things slip here with these freebies they're offering.

I thought Pant was the next cab of the rank in terms of wicket keepers for India? When we where out there last year even Farbrace was hyping him up. And he mullerea 32 ball century yesterday

Difference in both test matches has been AbD. He�s got some key runs at difficult times and swung the game.

Great start to test match cricket for Ngidi. Looks a good prospect

Should be a great last day, hope it goes to the wire.
Think the pitch has been good to see a test for batsmen. Same for both teams too, was difficult in SA 2nd innings, admittedly is getting worse for the Indians, but that's test cricket and importance of the toss

Wonderful debut by the young man. Markram settling in well at the top as well. Let's hope the Proteas can find some consistency and string together a few series win.
