When are England going to realise that sending Jordan up the order is a lousy plan at international level? Waste of 5 balls every time, ow he bats ahead of Rashid and particularly Plunkett in these situations is beyond me.

Edit: sorry Liam.

England are missing their three best players - Root, Bairstow and Stokes - and a captain who is excellent in the format.  Its not the end of the world.

Malan good again though...

Yaaawkshire, yaaawkshire sorry, you mean Bairstow who's played 4 T20Is since 2013?? I'd suggest Moeen is more of a miss, feel we're a batsman light this series, especially with the top order mostly not firing.

Actually, it would be fair to say five rather than four.  But overall, I stand by my comment that Bairsotw is one of England's best players, regardless of format.

When Bairstow does where an England shirt he rarely lets the side down

...and 'the best allrounder in the world' only has himself to blame.

I see he (and the other defendents) have pleaded not guilty to Affray

Just because he isn't getting picked, doesn't mean he is not one of the best.

He played 3 games in 2017, averaging 67 and a strike rate of around 144.  His "lowest" score was 27.

Now now, you wouldn't want to be accused of Northern parochialism! :)

Where does Bairstow fit in England's best t20 side (other than about 17th choice)? Also that isn't really what I was getting at - daft to say anyone is 'missing' from a side they don't usually play in. You think Sheffield Collegiate get in the bar after a loss and go 'never mind boys, we'd have done much better if we weren't missing Vaughan and the Root lads'?

I'm sure they would have done better because they would have had better players in, the only reason was that they area better team.  question: How many times do you hear of supporters saying that their best players are taken for England and that is affecting the county's results. Answer: all the time

Bairstow could fit anywhere in the top 7, easily.

It's not his fault that the selectors don't pick him, but you can still say that they'd do better with him.  He'll be picked in the team as soon as Morgan steps down as captain.

Debateable - there is a valid argument that he would have to unseat one of Root or Buttler, though I think the same argument that saw him pass Hales in the one day side could apply.

Complication is, I like how Malan bats in t'hit n giggle...
