Second win in 2 weeks over in Westside and we are trying to crawl out of the bottom 2, chasing 136 on , believe it or not, a soaking outdield (the ground Is next to a river flooded due to a blockage).

We won by 4 wickets with a good 35 no from myself and the mistress that is form seems to be returning.

Most pleasing this year is the work done during winter is paying off, grooving a straight bat and a slight front step forward outside the line of the ball is stopping overbalancing and playing around the front pad.

Next week it's the top of the table team who some dude got a double ton for 3 weeks ago, let's hope he is in bed all day with some stunning bird and he don't fancy playing.

Some light appearing now, still bottom 2 but 3 wins if we can from here and we might Houdini it.

We had a comfortable win yesterday
Which was nice after last weekends two disappointing defeats

The scorebook might not tell the story, but our fielding and holding catches definitely helped us to the win this week.
We have two young brothers who open the bowling, and both have improved massively, they can both bowl a decent line and length and really pressure batters.
This in turn forces the batters to hit out, and create the chances.

We played on a decent looking wicket, which turned out to have a fair bit of life in it at one end.
A few going sideways off the seam, and a few popping off a length.

Anyway, full points for us, as we bowled them out for 86, and knocked em off without losing a wicket
Big mention to Mr Hosk, batted really well yesterday, good to see mate

Yet another bye week yesterday. Originally nine teams in oir division and two have folded. At this point of the season I've played six games...

Another game, another lost toss and another hot afternoon in the field.

The opposition made 277-9 from their 45 overs, their number 3 making 100 and their number 6 making a quickfire 74.
One of our openers picked up a 4 fer, personally I got just the one wicket taking me seasons tally to 18.

In reply we made 223-8, 2 runs short of full batting points.
Our opener made a good 60 but nobody else really got going until our number 8 made 39. I scratched around for 9* off 40 odd balls (I was on a duck for 15 of them) so while I proved I can hold up an end I don't think I'll be getting a call up to our T20 side any time soon!

We got 10 bonus points from the game, again not a disaster. If we were being critical we had 9 balls to take the final wicket which we probably should have done, and should definitely have made 225. While not a bad point total we did effectively drop 2 bonus points.

Bit of an advert for win loss cricket yesterday.  We posted a par score, oppo blocked from ball 1 but bowled out well short of saving the game.  Tedious second innings to the game

Lost the toss, got them all out for 151, we fell apart, I scored 2 at #6, we won the game by one wicket. Ah, cricket.

Today I was involved in the most embarrassing game of cricket in my 3 years of playing so far.

I was playing for my Sunday team against a team i also play against for my Saturday club. Without fail, every single time i speak to an opposition captain in my league i hear ' Have you played x yet' and every single one of them will tell me how they've been abused, cheated against etc by this one team. So i told the lads what to expect, and we weren't disappointed as we turned up and found a Delhi day 5 wicket in the middle of a field, handy when you have two spinners who turn it away from the right hander.

They had us 20-4 and they were very much on top and behaving absolutely fine, until our 4&6 put on a big partnership. I was out umpiring, they appealed for one that hit our no6 about 6 inches outside off stump and was screamed at and abused by their spinner who kept telling me i didn't understand cricket and that i was s*** etc etc. Then said i was too young to umpire and that's why i don't know the rules (I'm 21 years old) Soon after it was drinks and their whole team was abusing me, so i bit back at their senior player and told him to shut up and all hell broke lose. I was told 'you cannot speak to your elders like this' and i shot back with 'well i've been abused and sworn at for the last 10 minutes, so i'll speak how i please.'  I was then told i deserve a smack, but the man very soon backed down when i walked over to him and asked him to repeat it. They spent the entire tea break chuntering about how we have no respect in our culture and how we're all cheats etc etc, so we took ourselves to our changing room to eat as i seriously lost my head. They were blatantly talking about me in their own language, and kept hearing them mention my Saturday side in their conversations.

Unfortunately that wasn't the worst of it. They started to be extremely petulant and were calling wides for balls missing leg stump by 6 inches as they were worried and in serious trouble at 10-4. Their number 5 then got hit on the thigh pad playing no shot and it went for 4, we asked why it wasn't dead ball and he said ' i gloved it' (hands were a good foot away from the ball) i just laughed and got back in my keeping stance, he took exception to our teams bemusement, and decided it must be my fault. then said something along the lines of  'you'd have got a wicket if you could catch you're s***" at which point i told him i know i'm terrible that's why i'm playing in the bottom division, and told him to be quiet and get on with the game, as it's low level sunday cricket and it doesn't matter. He then started waving his bat at me and telling me i'm a c*** because i play for (my saturday team), thankfully he was very quickly told off by his captain (one of the only blokes on their team who is a nice bloke)

Then came the worst part of the game, as they tried to cheat us in the score book. They updated the scoreboard after 2 maiden overs and added 4 runs onto the scoreboard. I had been thinking everytime they updated the scoreboard things weren't adding up, and had a word with our captain who started counting runs and lo and behold they added 3 runs after a 2 over period with a single wide in it. We went over to the score book, and sure enough they had added 4 singles in the maiden overs and had tried to cheat. They then tried to talk their way out of it, and funnily enough the score book was immaculate for the rest of the game! At that point the game was dead and buried as we needed one more wicket which was got a few overs later.

I'm seriously annoyed tonight. The fact that we had to keep tally of runs in the field because a team tried to cheat is shameful, it's the absolute low point of my cricket career. Today i was abused, physically threatened and told i was a cheat because i didn't give an awful LBW shout, all over a game of cricket. The worst part? I'm playing against them for my Saturday team next week. Not entirely sure if i'll play to be honest. I play cricket to enjoy myself and have a laugh with my mates, not to be abused and offered out over an umpiring decision. Ironically, the last time i played against them i gave them 2 LBW's in my 10 over stint, and remarkably they were well behaved to me that day. This was a really crappy end to my week.

After all the debate last week about weaker teams trying to bat out for a draw, what I would have given for that yesterday.

Instead, the opposition skipper turned up (minus most of his team) and asked our skipper could they bat first? Turns out they only had 10 players of which the skipper was the only regular adult cricketer in the side. I was then coerced into giving up my opening bowling slot (in fairness our skipper did likewise) to a pair of juniors and the first change bowlers were another junior along with the autistic guy I support.  Wickets tumbled around the opposition skipper but he held firm long enough to get 50 before being the final dismissal of their innings. Chasing just 90 to win, one of our openers scored 75 not out and I was watering my tomatoes on my allotment at just after 5pm.

We only had 10 on Saturday, I wasn't all that happy... until it turned out the oppo only bothered bringing 10 too and we rolled them over for 67. Couple of cheap wickets for me, felt alright with the bat for the first time in a few weeks but got triggered smashing one onto my pads. Enjoyed getting home by 5 and heading to festivities in town very much, why can't we finish earlier every week!

I added to my tremendously bad form with the bad with my fourth duck of the year, taking my run total to 1 all season (lol).

This was the most comical though, I got properly sledged out.

First ball was an (if I don't say so mysef) exceptional leave which whistled a couple of inches past off. Cue jeering and faux congratulations from WK and slips.

Second ball I middled back to the bowler. Cue more jeers and questions of why I didn't leave that one and that would have been an even better leave.

Third ball I was thinking about what they'd said and whether to play or leave when bowler hit his delivery stride and was still in two minds when I unconvincingly prodded at it and nicked it to 'keeper.

Sledged out, unbelievable.
