First game of the season tomorrow... forecast isn't good, we're on the 2nd XI pitch which isn't covered and can be a bit spicy, and the oppo seem to be bringing a tidy bowling attack... not looking like the gentle preseason hit I was hoping for then!
aaaand it's off, unsurprisingly. Going in dry for the league next week it is then!

Good luck to anyone who gets out there today.

We are meant to be playing are 1st league game but there is 2 hopes of that (as the saying goes). I am expecting a call about 10am to confirm a wash out.

Supposed to be playing both days this weekend, our first league fixture today and a village cup tie tomorrow. Rained all day yesterday and showers forecast for this afternoon so not hopeful 😔

No rain yet so I can reckon we have a chance. I’m in desperate need of practice as I’m batting like a no. 11 at the moment. So everything’s crossed. First outing for the Jedi if we play.

Rained off today, hoping our t20 is on on Wednesday as my only chance for a preseason hit outdoors

Might now be getting a game in tomorrow, obviously weather dependent, for Firle. Hoping to use that as pre-season before St James Montefiore on 5th May.

Just been called off. Very frustrating. Hating cricket/England at the moment.

Had to drop out today been to hospital woke up in pain couldn't see due to swollen nose blocking vision an abscess  had broken out through the area where the helmet grill was pushed into my nose and  cut it open it  by a a bouncer last July.
Doctor removed some of the abscess   have to go back to hospital on Monday
have to have an head and nose scan at a later date to try and establish the problem as second abscess in 3 months
Left me with
 an open wound.
Nose looks a right mess

Yup straight into the new league format next weekend without a warm up game, I suppose the plan is still to 'hit 250-300' in 45 overs  :)

Meanwhile in the dressing room some of us old hacks are looking for the much maligned ' medium pace dobber' everyone always says will 'get slapped when the wickets dry out' but who in fact will be absolute gold dust when the season finally starts.

Come on the season !

First game for XL.club. They hit 250/1 with 2 lads retiring with tons. I caught a sitter and dropped a sitter (off of davehugh’s bowling), sorry mate. We snuck home for a draw at 150/7. I was bowled for a leaden-footed 2. Davehugh looked classy for a 70odd.

Didn't look leaden footed in the field nothing went through you apart from the drop off my bowling :). Not always easy facing the son of an ex England bowler very two lengths (Bouncer or Yorker) in your first innings. On a personal note happy with that as my first knock my new match stick from @GDP1964 is a gun just punched three drives at short cover uppishly and the poor young lad wore all three, his hands must of been ringing afterwards. Second game away to Frome tomorrow and then another XL club game against West Buckland Wednesday before the season starts the following Saturday...
