3 runs played a typical l lefthanders shot stepped down the wicket whipped the ball  backwards of square leg off middle stump fielder dived forward and caught it inches off the ground stood there momentarily as I didn't realise the fielder had caught it umpire told me later that opposition had  set the field in anticipation of the shot.should have looked at the field placings

5 out of 5 now, fairly comprehensive victory - oppo finished 116-8 and we chased it down in 30 overs. Nice little 59 for me personally so good day all round.

Fantastic day today!

A true club man who's been at the club for 26 years made his maiden century, truly deserved and couldn't happen to a more deserving guy.

We posted 227-6, with a decent 36 from a 17 year old and a couple of youngsters getting red ink cameos at the end

In response the opposition were 150 ish all out.
A 14 year old taking 4-29 and a 13 year old making his senior debut bowling incredibly well and taking 2 wickets

On a personal note I kept wicket and took 2 catches. I was more pleased with conceding only 3 byes on a somewhat interesting pitch, some balls were popping with some keeping low.

Tomorrow is day 3, I've got an evening league cup match, but I'm starting to think 4 games in 4 days may be a bit excessive

Played my 4th game in 5 days today (had 2 for uni on Weds/Fri)

Yesterday i made 5 before running myself out suicidally after feeling in really good touch. Won by 1 wicket against a bunch of extremely gobby Sri Lankan lads who hadn't been beaten this year. Anything that hit the pads was plumb according to them and our umpires were called cheats on several occasions, nothing made me happier than the pathetic hand shakes they gave as they walked off the pitch.

Opened the batting for my new Sunday team today and felt horrendous. Wasn't moving my feet, was playing the moving ball awfully. Limped to 7 off 14 overs, chasing 117, we were all out for 90. Somehow they've asked if i want to play again!

This is brilliant.... it's exactly what Sunday cricket is for. Experienced club man and colts playing together doing well etc...

Played against @Simmy on Thursday night though.
We got 135 and they were 13 short, decent game on a rubbish wicket.
Simmy got 52 and they would have won if he’d have stayed in
I managed 40 not out

haha i was trying to get out from ball one! absolute minefield that place hate batting on it!

To rub salt in the wound, i've also got a 2 week ban after comments made on Saturday's game.

2 free weeks to improve my game i guess!

On social media regarding the attitudes of our opposition on Saturday.

Ah well, you live and you learn.

Had a frustrating game on Saturday. Opened the batting for the 2's and helped put on 50 opening stand. Got tied down by a slow dobber who was doing nothing other than landing ever ball line and length. Should have gone down the wicket or given myself room to hit him through the off side, but hardly played and not scored any this season, so lacked confidence. Cross with myself as usually much more positive than this! We slumped from 56-0 to 90-5 and the dobber got me lbw for 26. We finished on 183-9, but every wicket was down to a poor shot rather than good bowling.

Opposition opener came out and smashed everything, mostly across the line and took the game away from us. I caught him on the boundary for 70 in just the 14th over, but dropped an easier catch off their other opener who finished up 60 odd not out. The skipper brought me on to bowl with the scores tied. Just what you want! But managed to get a wicket maiden before they rapped it up in the next over.

Both firsts and seconds got promoted last year, but neither team has managed a win yet this season. Frustration all round, but I was very disappointed by my own batting and allowing a very average bowler to tie me down. T20 game on Wednesday and fully intend to come out all guns blazing to make up for it!

Well tonight was interesting!

16 over cup game, we only had 9.
Pitch was awful (a full delivery could do anything between hit your ankle or go over your head)

I took a wicket as the opposition were restricted to 83-6
We knocked it off 4 down with a couple of overs to spare.

Highlight for my teammates was me chasing after a skyer and ending up in a heap on the floor having fallen down a rabbit hole (the ground really was that bad...)

Game 4 in 4 days tomorrow before I take a couple of days off (and only go training...)

Update from the weekend.

Played league on Saturday got a quick opening and then out. Bowled out for 190 and bowled them out for 165. Full muslim side and during ramadan meant we had very long drinks breaks when they went and sat in the shade and a long tea. Did start to feel sorry for them as it was a scorcher.

Sunday bit of a white wash where we rolled a side over for 56 in 25 overs when we were trying our best to give them runs, full tosses with no fielders outside the ring, batsmen bowling half trackers but they kept missing the ball! Sadly not much we could have done to make it longer. Rattled those runs off in 7.1 overs with a 24* and then played a quick T10 with our side getting 99 ( I got 25 retired) and they got 82 in reply. Seemed to prefer the shorter format....

Overall a very very village sunday game but a good atmosphere especially in the 10 over game.

4 games in 4 days - done

Now for 2 nights training before games Friday and Saturday...

16 over league tonight, oppo batted first and made 101-4 (I think, they didn't lose many wickets.)

In reply we got them 2 down, our opener making 73*. I played a cameo of 16* including a 6 and two 4's.

Other than a 2nd ball duck in a touring game I've felt okay with the willow up to now (I just need to actually spend some substantial time in the middle now!)

I've had a recall from the Fun XI to the 1s for a trip to Chichester Priory on Saturday. Hopefully will be given a decent crack with bat or ball.
