I've had a recall from the Fun XI to the 1s for a trip to Chichester Priory on Saturday. Hopefully will be given a decent crack with bat or ball.

Lovely ground there right in front of Goodwood house

Just had a quick google. Will bring back memories of playing at Stowe and Eton with school!

They hit 290. Strangely I even bowled 7-0-37-2. Quite happy with that. We we 2 down inside the first 2 overs. No. 3 went in and belted a quick 57. A few more quick wickets fell. Came in at 6 and hit my first 50’of the season. Too long in coming to be honest. Holed out to deep mid on once the batting points were secure, my glasses were fogging up and the tail was in. EventLly lost by about 110. As a team we have batted poorly all season.
Used my B&S I bought from sivlar and it’s going beautifully.
Friendly tomorrow and looking to push on.

We were 108 all out
Oppo chased it 2 down in about 20 overs

Can't say I enjoyed cricket much today

Cracking tram game.

We made 207 for 8 from our 46.

Looked like it be more, but I chopped on in the 3rd over for a very brisk 32, including 4 sixes(and losing 3 balls).

We collapsed from 90 for 2, to 117 for 7, but a great fight back got us to our finishing score.

We then quickly got the oppo to 22 for 6 of the first ten overs. They then dug in, and with some experimental bowling to force attacking shots, they eased the score up, but we finally got them 85 all out  with 12 left.

New opening partner for me today, we got on well - put on 80 in the first 10. Unfortunately a couple of soft dismissals later we started the collapse, 173ao. I kept as all three of our usual options were unavailable, on a rock hard track, with a new recruit of ours steaming in.... my hands are seriously sore, he is rrrrapid! Despite a good bowling effort they got it 5 down, bad times. Note to self, make starts count.

Good win yesterday against top of league meant we are now top

It was against another  bunch of whinging weirdos so all the sweeter
Comments after the game from them, included,,,,your ball was too dark?,(supplied by the league), taking too long to set the field, dodgy bowling action,(the lad accused bowls for Oxfordshire),umpires were crap etc etc

Anyway, top of the league and they are now third, karma

Bit of a catch up this time....

Last Saturday was a good team performance, 156 all out and 20-25 runs short and a great fielding display meant we won by 3 runs vs second in the league

Sunday another Sunday not out for 1 but a loss defending 210 on the same wicket as Saturday!

Midweek was a massacre we shipped 235 in 15 (8 ball) overs one of them hitting 137 (lefty wearing right handed pads) who we dropped 3 times then we struggled to 113-6

Now to yesterday where it was an exceptional team performance and a great comeback win

We were 20-5 and struggling but a great captains innings of 51 by @19reading87 and 40 by our number 7 and a nice little 14/15 not out by me batting at 10 (with a target for the season ticked off see that thread) we got to 160 all out off our 45.
Then possibly the hardest working and best we have fielded this season we managed to bowl the oppo out for 130 in 30 odd overs to win! Great comeback and great feeling after hearing the oppo stating they’d be home for 4! The beers certainly tasted sweet!

And I have my first game as captain since u13s today!!!

Bit of a wake up call in yesterday’s game. We batted first and made 251-3 from 45. I made 109 not out and carried bat through. Very good flat pitch with quick outfield, we got off to a flyer 100 opening stand from 14overs then another 100 partner ship with no3 before no4 smashed 32 off 11 balls and out last ball of innings.

Then the wheels fell off, they had a bloke in debut who they hadn’t meet, opened the batting and was superb. We dropped him very very hard low diving at 1st slip from out opener who is approx 75mph. From then on he just smoked anything with any width or short and made 75 from 12 overs before being bowled by first change bowler.
We dropped 7 catches in all, missed 3 run outs and lost on the last ball by 6wickets

As @alexhilly1492 mentioned, one of the best come backs I’ve been part of on a cricket pitch.

Very fortunate to pick up 51 and 4-25 off allocated overs.

Really good win yesterday. Lost the toss on an absolute road and oppo batted. Then I witnessed one of the best opening spells I have seen in a long time. Our opener bowled his 9 straight through for just 10 runs! The other opener the same picking up 2-21. So at drinks they were 32-2 on a track I thought was worth at least 225!

With some late order hitting and a couple of dropped catches oppo ended on 169-8 off their 40 overs.

Walking out to open I thought just stay in and this is won as they are a long way short and that's exactly what happened. I got 72 not out off 133 balls! We put on 82 for the 1st wicket and coasted from there not taking any risks and got the runs with 3 overs to go 3 down.

Really pleased as I have been getting starts but not converting and also as a team it was a really good sensible chase.

Absolutely furious about yesterday.

200 mile round trip, Bucks to Brighton to Chichester and back. Batted 10, didn't get in, despite several players who aren't as quick scoring as me being moved up the order when we chased quick runs... Didn't get a bowl until the 33rd over of 47, wicket first ball. Taken off after 3 inexpensive overs to allow the quicks to try to blast away the tail on a pitch that literally offered no assistance to seamers. Took probably my best catch yet this season at point, low to my left in the gloom, but still, I didn't travel so far for 3 overs and one catch. This is my third "thanks for coming" of the season already after being promised so much more over the winter.

I think next week will be my last at Ansty, as the travel is silly for not getting a game, and utterly pointless to play 2s as the standard is pretty poor. At the very least I will be having words with the captain to make my displeasure clear.

My plan now is to join Amersham CC, which is local, a great ground and a good group of blokes.

Earlier this week was at Chalfont St Giles, which is where I played from the age of 7 to 23. Amersham has great facilities
