Not a terribly exciting T20 last night. We won comfortably, although it didn't look that way when the oppo reached 77-0 off 9 overs. Unfortunately they only had three batsmen so once the openers were gone, our change bowlers had a field day. They finished 117-8 off their 20. We knocked them off in 13 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. I got 17*.
Three interesting occurrences.
a) they had a slow-scoring batsman who wasn't hurting us. There was a run out appeal and he was given out by their umpire, but a few of us could see that the keeper had knocked off the bails with his gloves before the ball arrived, so we had a quick conference and decided to call him back, for which he was very grateful. Whether we'd have been so virtuous had he been rocking along at 12 an over, I'm not sure.
b) The same bloke was then given an over during our chase (I think they were mixing their bowling up as they could see they didn't have nearly enough) He has one of our batsmen caught, twice, both to fantastic diving catches. But both times they are ruled out for a no-ball because the ball bounced twice. Village moment of the game.
c) We needed 1 to win with a new batsman at the crease and me at the non-strikers end. The ball gets away from the keeper and there is an easy run, but I shout "no" as I figure the new batsman would like the chance to hit the winning runs off his own bat. Next ball he drills it straight at midwicket and is caught. He wasn't too pleased.
