And the BBC article includes a link to the scorecard, so we now know the name of the bowler

Won yesterday to put us back up to 2nd.

Loss the toss on a wicket that wouldn't have looked out of place in Mumbai! Oppo choose to bat and got 164-8 off their 40 overs with the pitch getting worse and worse, balls going through the top and jumping off a length, and more turn as the bowlers foot marks tore up the dry pitch.

I went out and got 12 off the 1st over , then stupidly tried to work a ball through midwicket and got cleaned up. Possibly the worst shot a have played all season. But my fellow opener played well for 68 and we chased it 3 down with 14 overs to spare.

In other news, a game got called off in our league (div 1) due to an unfit outfield, specifically big dry open cracks. Apparently the umpires said to the players they could play but they each would have to sign a waiver. Only 20 of the 22 players signed it!! So match cancelled.

Good day for me personally yesterday, got to a ton off 61 balls and ended up holing out for 126 in a total of 304. On the less fun side, we got booted out of our ground by the staff who wanted to lock up with 3 overs remaining... Oppo were about 250-7 so fingers crossed we get awarded the win, but definitely dampened the feeling of what should have been a big win for us.

Congrats on the knock mate
Such a ballache when a game overruns, shame as it's such a beautiful place to play otherwise! It was getting on 8.20 to be fair though, they bowled their overs horrifically slowly first dig.
Cheers gents, and good point Dorset, will amend!

2nd game of the weekend for me today.

Took a young side for an away game. we only had 10 and they had extra players for the fixture so borrowed one of their lads. (Does this happen in any other sport?)

We fielded first and did well to restrict them to 204-9 off 40 overs, our leg spinner with a 4 fer and our guest opening the bowling and taking 3 wickets.

In reply we chased it 3 down (one lad hitting his maiden hundred and retiring). I made 20* at the end to see us over the line, but I went in with 70 needed off 20 overs with 7 wickets in hand, so it was almost a formality.

Still, I got to spend some time at the crease and even found the middle of my bat!  ;)

Played my 1st Sunday game today for 2 seasons and confirmed why I now hate Sunday cricket, oppo ( whom are a East Anglian Prem side) batted first making 279 from 40 overs thanks to 2 1st team batters Mainly. We had 10 including 3 colts which is what my idea of Sunday cricket is about giving the young players that don’t get as much of a game in sat league cricket a game. Team was full of 1st and 2nd team players which is between 3 and 5 leagues above our club

They then open up with a 1st team bowler and chirp the hell out of every player from ball one seemingly not understanding that the ability of 8 of our players is not in the same universe as most of them. Moaning about a boring game, youngsters backing away to square leg and constant abuse.

We do unfortunately have to play league cricket on Sunday’s as there isn’t friendly cricket in this part of the world but it’s totally spoilt by these “bigger EAPL” clubs that have to win at all costs, even more annoying when the 2 or 3 players that are no where near the ability of the rest of the there team chipping in with even more personal and abusive comment to “fit in” when there ability is with out doubt proper village

Anyway rant over we lost and at the moment that’s the end of Sunday league cricket for me and maybe our club as we are Ll just fed up of it

I saw this earlier https://twitter.com/MarshAngus/status/1025821425670795265

That's absolutely disgraceful
I used to play for a club in this league - this popped up on Facebook 😂

Bit of a mixed weekend

- Yesterday played in the Wetherby League where pool players can only bowl 7 overs. Only went for 20 runs but absolutely no luck and a little disappointed we couldn't defend 230 runs. On the plus side the tea was excellent and the autistic lad I support got both the opening batsmen out so he was pleased.

- Today I took my first catch of the season which is a bit embarrassing because it's now August. However, apart from a couple of sharp C&Bs, I have not had any chances but this afternoon I decided to stand at 1st slip and took a one-handed catch. I actually thought the ball had looped up off the batsman's shoulder. Bowled opposition out in just 20th over (of scheduled 40) for 120ish we knocked it off very comfortably. Bit frustrated with my batting as I hit a couple of nice boundaries before being adjudged LBW to a guy who was throwing the ball. My own fault though because I spent an hour on Friday @StumpsIndoorCricketNets absolutely hammering the ball using a high bat lift but then went back to my old style against this bowler and paid the price.

For what it's worth @SOULMAN1012 this is the exact reason why my club don't play Sunday league cricket anymore. We now have a Sunday Development XI which we organise a number of friendlies for at the start of the season against clubs explaining the level and there will be Colts playing etc... you'd be surprised how many clubs out there want to do the same.

It rained so our game was reduced to 34 overs a side. Got the opposition all out for 173 in the last over. Our opening batsman took 4 wickets at the end. The chase didn't start well with both the openers getting out for ducks. 125 run 3rd wicket partnership got us back on track and we won with 5 wickets and 1 over to spare.

70 off 4 overs is a formality?
