A bit of a gap has opened against the chasing pack with the win.

This surrey don't play their home grown talent thing us garbage.

Really? I'd say there is another side to that argument. The one that parachutes in Kolpaks like nobodies business (Rampaul, Pillan's, McKerr, Morkel in the two years alone) and brings in a wealth of hired stars from the shires (Borthwick, Stoneman, Foakes, Batty, Solanki, KP, Jon Lewis, Tremlett, Davies, Afzaal...). I don't see how you can disagree that that is not playing your youngsters...

Urm Batty came through the Surrey youth system.
As did many others. KP joined us because no one else would have him, Rampaul was a comedy signing by any measure. As for the others, all sides supplement their team. Look at Tendulkar, Pujara, Ballance etc.

How on Earth do you class Foakes as a 'star'? He couldn't get a game at Essex and came here, I would say he's only on the England radar now we've given him the clubs

Rampaul is gone, McKerr and Pillans both have UK passports so aren't kolpaks, plus they're both injured right now.

Was that before or after he came through ours? ;)

Well, if you're citing Ballance, surely you'd accept that Sam and Tom Curran, Dernbach and Meaker are in every bit the same boat? :)

I agree that all sides supplement from outside - I just would have thought you would accept that until the last 12-18 months, Surrey have done it far more than most.  You make mention of Yorkshire - but in the 28 years since they allowed players both outside the county boundaries to play, how many players have they taken from other counties?  I can think of Richard Harden, Richard Stemp, Jack Brooks and David Willey (Plunkett and TKC both having played age group cricket for Yorkshire) plus the lad whose name escapes me who we signed for a year after he left Northants.  We've had two Kolpaks - Rudolph and Kruis - though have rejected that route for almost a decade now....

Incorrect - he couldn't get a game *as a keeper* at Essex.  They wanted to keep him, and made hima good offer to stay, and there were half a dozen counties in for his signature.  I'd say that makes him worthy of mention?

Didn't Meaker play at Normandy, not Guildford? But close enough yes. And he's been in England since he was very young, prep school sort of age, so I'd agree he definitely counts as a home grown player

i've never known someone to be so obsessed with a county they don't support
