I'm not gonna lie, I do feel a bit dirty having a bloke like Morkel as a kolpak when he's terrorising teams like today

Apparently the Surrey players received a lot of abuse from the crowd at Scarborough, including an incident of racial abuse towards one player who hasn't been named but most people seem to think is Ryan Patel.
If true, this is absolutely horrendous and hopefully the ECB and Yorkshire act very strongly

If he wasn't a better player than Stoneman last season, I don't suppose he is now.

Burns is in form. Stoneman isn't.

I wasn't there today, so can only comment in general terms. The atmosphere at Scarborough is different to most county cricket - there are actual people there - but in my experience it is respectful of good cricket - the Cricinfo report highlights the applause Amar Virdi got on day one. It can be harsh on poor cricket and behaviour - though my only real example is the barracking Samit Patel got a couple of years ago when he refused to chase balls in the field.

So...if this is true, and there was genuine rascist abuse, you'd hope the fan concerned would be banned and if appropriate prosecuted. I just hope this is not a player coming from the snowflake generation taking offence at nothing.

Of course. He was good in the first innings, left the ball well.  Is he test class? I'm not convinced, but I can see why his supporters would argue he deserves to be given a chance.

I applaud the 'snowflake generation' for not throwing bananas at black footballers.

A racist comment is a racist comment. There is nothing 'snowflake' about objecting to it. It is progress that incidents like this are treated so seriously.

If you are going to start typecasting and criticising whole 'generations' of people, perhaps take a look at your own?

what a ridiculous comment. Doesn't matter how "weak" the insult may be if there is any hint of racism attached to it throw the book at the fan and the club. Its disgusting that this should even be a thing these days and even more disgusting that any attempts to report it and stop it are treated as it being a youngster being over sensitive

I'm sorry, but the ridiculous (and ridiculously reactionary) comment is yours, and I hope in slower time you will reconsider and retract.

At the moment, there is an unverified/uncorroborated allegation, with no details in the public forum of what was alleged to have taken place.  Of course, if it is evidenced that something offensive was said then action has to be taken, one would assume by the Police (though the repsonsibility for an isolated incident is on the person making the comment, not the club whose game it happened to occur at) - and the player should be supported in that process.

But it is not unreasonable - this in a time when I read on my way into work this morning that the National Gallery had been accused of "rascism to those who don't like paintings", when people confuse and intersperse race/religion/nationality/gender/identity etc, when you can be accused of "rascism" for tweeting that you don't like Mexican food and many other such examples - to want to know what was actually said and judge accordingly, rather than leap to judgement.  Having done a lot of work in the area of equal opportunities, it concerns me greatly that the move within society to rush to take offence - and I am speaking now in generalist terms rather than about this incident - and to cite alleged rascism (you can insert many other isms here) - has the net effect of cheapening those occasions when real and damaging discrimination and abuse occurs.
