Got any sources/any more info on that?

The man is, to summarise, a coward.

Quote
The key disagreement at the meeting centred on the spiralling costs of the ECB's new competition, The Hundred. With those projected costs understood to have more than trebled from £13m to over £40m, the projected profits for the counties have dropped sharply.

Shock horror!

Graves' reception by the Surrey and Essex fans would have made George Osborne's appearance at the Olympics look positively friendly. Boris also got off likely at the Oval.

Graves is positively despised!

Return on Investment... quite simply sky will be losing hand over fist putting this game on TV.
It’s a shame as people will watch cricket if it’s on FTA.

Think of the bigger picture.

£40 mill that's absolutely ridiculous. For a format that most pros are not keen on and to possibly gain a few extra fans

What's about the current supporters?

So much could be done with that money instead

This.
Reorganising the fixture list to give the championship more priority.
Investing in the live streaming to improve quality and possibly camera angles
Actually promoting the Championship as an affordable way to watch cricket.
Etc

BBC already provides excellent commentary on county games, without employing expensive names. Most counties already have live streaming in place. Surely a dedicated TV channel isn't that great a leap?

Most people say county cricket is boring/ a poor standard because are forever being told it is. And this idea fits with their short  attention spans as an excuse not to bother giving it a chance.

I probably watch more than most on here - and I find its of a decent standard, even if the way that it has been forced toward the extremes of the season has led to it being a little too heavily dominated by bowlers nipping it around at a bit above medium.

There you go. You give it a chance, and it's decent.

I agree, the CC should be across the duration of the season.

I'd like counties to play one 4 day and one 1 day game per week throughout the season. Two rest/ travelling/ preperation days.

Sky would never allow it.  Money is king.

Could not agree more. I get that T20 has to have a big old slug of prime time because it's the best way to get kids in to the game and all that, but time and again the long form delivers skills and drama that the hit and giggle cannot match. There has to be a way of showing due respect to both.

This is the same as draw Cricket.. people are told it’s Boring so they are biased against it and then state win lose is far more fun.. even tho there are more one sided games with little to play for for one side more often than not. Top 4-5 divs in any system really should be the hardest of formats to promote all round skills

Calling it 'draw cricket' doesn't help.  ;)

I think we are ultimately doing kids a disservice.

Interesting article this, shame it doesn't go into more depth but the differences between selection methods are definitely thought-provoking:
