I have a strange relationship with fielding. Whilst my ground fielding is remarkably average, i'm a lot more mobile than i look, so i get 3/4 run outs a year as batsman try to pinch a single in the infield to the fat lad and often realise it's a mistake halfway down. I haven't got a massive arm though, so i very rarely find myself on the boundary thankfully.
Nine times out of ten, i'll be stationed at Gully as i've made it my specialist position having never dropped a catch in there. My catching is by far my best skill in the game (far better than my batting or bowling), i can count on one hand the amount of catches i've dropped. I put this down to the fact that when i was younger and fitter, me and a friend used to spend hour upon hour in the summer throwing ourselves around the garden catching tennis balls, even though neither of us played cricket! I also used to lob a ball against a wall when i was home alone as well!
Despite this, once i come out of gully as the ball stops swinging and we go more defensive, i find fielding mind-numbingly boring. The only reason i've started keeping is to try and stay concentrated in the field, as my mind wanders when i'm not bowling!
