Oh dear... Next time someone makes a comment about the problems buying bats from Pakistan and certain people get all defensive about it, remember this thread!

Just to confuse people here...

I have at least 15 bats. I think this bat will probably be the best piece of willow in my collection. It’s pretty, with numerous grains and great finishing. It is truly a top of the range bat. And I only paid AUD150 (incl shipping to Brisbane)

But it’s (no swearing please) useless for me as it is not what I requested

Haha

Well don't be completely disheartened.

There are good manufacturers in Pakistan, but really shocked at AS, I used to hold them in high regard. They must realise they will lose long term business.

Still shocked that Sitonit's bat picked by his friend was going to be for a Pak player  :o Someone somewhere is telling lies, not even grade 3.

There is nothing wrong in buying a bat from pakistan.
We are forgetting thr fact that the op’s bat was handpicked by his own friend.
I have just bought 2 bats from pakistan and both are as good as any top of end bats.
I requested 2,10 but mine dressed up was 2lb 11.5oz but it picks up like 2,10 so i dont mind that. Bat makers in pak does not have any magucal skills to make a bat in 2lbs 6 oz with the expectations that people put in front of them e.g. 41mm edges. And 65mm spine and very thick toe and all.
Generalising a country’s industry as a whole is not fair at all. You have bad and good everywhere.

Tbh i dont think pros are fussy about looks or grains. They will happily use 4 grain bat if it performs as oer their expectations.

Wasn't there a famous story about Shane Watson once picking a GM 606 at the factory as he liked the balance and response and used it well in Tests.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news on this forum but. . . .

The ball doesn't count the grains.

This thread proves my point that ordering bats online, even custom made bats, is a crap shoot. You are better off going with someone who's well-known for consistent quality (like Keeley) or having someone hand pick a lovely stick matching your specs.

I can't endorse "JPGavan", never used his bats.

Keeley presses his clefts (AFAIK) hence the consistent quality of his bats.

I don't have 15 bats but I have the same feeling.
This bat at 2.10 is a monster with an excellent pick up, but then I have a couple of more in 2.7 and 2.8 so this may not have any use.

Again, the good deal is, it's only $150.  Shouldn't be hard to sell and get your money back in a market where supposedly "Top End Bats" are in freaking $800 range.

Today I spoke to MB Malik out of curiosity  after watching a YT video where they clearly admit to have a special machine that sucks the entire moisture out of willow to make it bone dry (gotta admit their honesty), in an attempt to meet the demand of light weight bats with big edges and no concaving.

lol - even they are asking anywhere from $500 to $700  for a 2.7 bat.

So this AS bat for $150, even a though surplus, is still a bargain.
