Gayle looks to be having back issues? That must be a worry for WI!!

Is Gayle going to make it through the WC with that back trouble, especially if WI is batting 2nd?

Without Gabriel and Roach this wasn't WI best bowling attack.

With Cottrell and Brathwaite making the way for them.  You do need two of Russell, Holder and Brathwaite.  No way is WI dropping Russell and Holder and Thomas is not getting dropped unless his performance suffers.

Rather bizarrely Misbaq blamed Amir for being poor with the ball...Amir took 3 bloody wickets whilst Hasan and Riaz where getting slaughtered. According to Misbaq, Amir bowls too slowly

Here we go again.  Already designating someone to put all the blame on.  The other two folks in the team who are also going to be the candidate for that are Riaz and Malik  :o

NZ vs SL being played on a green top - All the talk of the pitches being roads doesn’t seem true at the start of the tournament on these fresh wickets

I wonder whether the ICC were worried it would turn into too much of a run fest and asked for a bit of grass to be left on.

Likely to be that. Complete contrast to the pitches eng vs pak played on in that series

NZ win the toss - see them knocking over SL cheaply here

Just put cricket and thought New Zealand were at home!

Proper green pitch this. I like it..

Sri Lanka don’t seem to be so much though? Can they get enough to make a game of it.

If Afghanistan rotated the strike better they’d be on the verge of becoming a very competitive side. Currently 131-5 against Australia - 80 of those 131 in boundaries.

Team Afg showed a good amount of fight and handled the short ball better than Pak. Well done!

Pretty handy WC debut from Alex Carey with 4 catches, a stumping and a run out.
I thought Afghanistan were very good in the field, and Hassan in particular bowled very well, with Warner and Finch playing him with a lot of respect.  I'm tipping that Afghanistan might surprise a few teams in the next few weeks.
