I bought a Grade 2 from @jonny77 recently. I can't be bothered with the faff of posting pictures but the service from Jonny is always great. He will send you a message a few weeks after you receive the bat asking you how you are getting on with the bat and whether you have any feedback. The handles Jonny uses are absolutely excellent and I think help with the lightweight balance of the bats. Finishing is always top notch. I must confess that at first the pressing wasn't 100% to my liking but I'm learning to move beyond the sound of the response to the actual rebound. So although rebound has a less pleasing sound the actual response/ping is very good.

Overall if you get a bat from Jonny you will get a quality product with beyond exceptional customer service. Would highly recommend Scott bats (especially as they need more support down South).

What actually determines the sound a bat makes? It's always something that has interested me, as there is quite a range of sounds that can come from the impact of a mallet/ball. Accoustics? Pressing? Environment? Angle?

I guess mostly the pressing, it's what makes the sound what it is. Hit unpressed willow and you don't get anywhere near the same sound  :D

Hit the bat from different angles will produce different sounds take the bat place above your head and tap it it gives a different acoustic than when it on your lap. Try it

It like when you hear a bat say kholi uses in nets and think wow in truth they using harder balls then you do and play in build up areas so go it a different pitch sound wise.

On the topic of Scott bats they no different to other brands in terms of sounds or ping maybe it the fact your using softer balls in the nets I took mine out on Saturday for a friendly and against a harder newish ball it sounded like any other bat and the ball flew to the fence with that almost quite sound when you middle it (when I actually did)

He makes a well made bat

Thanks for the positive feedback mate, appreciate it and glad you're happy with it. I'm obviously constantly looking for feedback and ways to improve, especially the pressing now. It's a constant process to find improvements. As always, just trying to provide good bats and one day be considered a decent batmaker.

Been a while since I've posted, but have been busy working and playing of late. Had a bit of fun in the workshop this week and made a beast of a bat to put into stock. If you're a fan of heavy bats, this one is for you!

I wanted to make an oversized and heavy bat, to see how I could get it to come out feel wise. It's bang on 3lbs but doesn't feel it, as it's nicely balanced.

Doesn't go through the gauge as you'd expect at the weight, with some hefty edge, toe and spine measurements. It's full width too, unlike the bat in the bottom pick I had through for a weight reduction.

Anyone reckon they could throw this one around? 💪 It's an absolute trampoline too!

Shockingly narrow one in for a weight reduction. Getting a bit silly now! It's still 2lbs 12oz as well, but feels heavier.

Yeah it's a hefty chunk, but I reckon I could use it just about. Feels  good on the hands tbh, but obviously not 2lb15oz, picking up 2lbs 10oz 😆

Thanks mate. Sometimes nice to make a bat without worrying about weight.

The other one is a bit ridiculous imo. Put it on its edge on the bench and it nearly fell over it a leaning that much!

Here is the bat from the video abv. Made as a copy of an existing bat. It's a big boy at over 3lbs, but as you can see in the video taps up really nicely. As you'd expect at that weight, it fills the gauge and imo balances nicely for such a hefty chunk of willow

Excellent bat, @jonny77
It did not need much knocking and is my match bat from the get go. Great job, mate.
