Few bats shaped up this week amongst others and plenty of refurbs in the heat!

First is a custom order for a referral customer down south. He liked the middle position of the JS175 but requested more wood in the toe, rather than a duckbill. This is the result. Requested 2lbs 11oz and its come in at 2lbs 10 3/4 oz....

Second is a profile I'm toying with to put in the stock range as my mid-high/high. Peak is 225mm from the toe. Would appreciate feedback on this and to see if there's any love for the shape....

Last of the three is a 4 grainer Grade 3. Proving there's light willow in all grades and performance too! Made as a stock bat, so available and in my LS200 profile. As you can see it's completely full, with thick toe, edges and shoulders. Coming in at a smidge under 2lbs 9oz. For people who can see past grains, this will be a lovely bat...

That four grainer is an asbolutely stonking looking piece.

Mega tempting :)

@jonny77 personally, I love that second profile, what weight did it come out as (appreciate dead weight isn't necessarily important given the higher middle I imagine improves the pick up?), just thinking maybe you could reduce the concaving and take advantage of the better pick up and add more wood? For a second I thought it had a longer handle, shorter blade but that's an illusion right?

Love those top two shapes. Love the first one more as that's the shape I generally use.
Great work.

I like all those shapes! The third shape would be my preference if pushed, as I prefer a high middle. But the thicker toe on the first is really good, and looks like it'll be a beast. The second shape has a touch of the Laver and Wood Special about it to me, with maybe slightly thicker edges. Very nice!

It was a fairly heavy cleft, so its 2lbs 13oz and a touch of change. They're isn't a huge amount of concaving tbh, as don't like taking them down too much. Some clefts dictate the finished weight generally, unless you take them down just to hit a scale weight. Thickish handle too, so could have shed weight there, but would rather it feel better and wait for someone who uses that weight to come along (there's a batter for every bat 😁)

It's a std blade, short handle set up.

It was kind of inspired by that shape a little i suppose. I'm not a fan of higher middles personally and they don't sell as well as my other two stock shapes, especially for us Northern boys. However, was looking to create something which was different to the other stock shapes, which i think are a little more modern styles maybe? Maybe i need to go more out there and accentuate the swell by taking a little more from the splice and toe to create more of a 'hump'. It will no doubt evolve.

Got a lot of time for the new shape Jonny, like a mid/high middle and those black gold stickers have really grown on me so all round mate reckon it will be a good addition to the range. Keep up the good work mate

It was a pleasure to have @Chad in the workshop today. He pressed his first bat and we shaped up this one between us....

Also thinking these should be in the best grains thread!
