Cheers fellas. Not usually a grains guy, but this one is a lovely bit of willow. 2lbs 10oz and picks up feather light.

This one's a Custom for a forum member, who has been a really good supporter of the brand from day one. Picked a nice light G3 out for him. Shorter blade, std handle to make it 83cm overall as requested. Semi oval handle, 2lbs 10.5oz. One of favourite bats to leave the shop in a while....

Oh there's something just so satisfying about that profile! I could look at it all day. And I do love the white stickers with rainbow effect. Looks great, really nice job. And hope the forum member goes well with it!

Thanks mate, appreciate that. I agree, really like the profile. Although it was based on a profile from another brand tbf 😆 The white stickers have been really popular and the prism effect is nice when the light catches it (otherwise it looks silver).

A few shaped up this week....

The top one is for a local player who wanted a 'hitters bat' at 2lbs 12oz with a thick toe, for reasons he couldn't explain 😆. It seemed to be that he thought it would ping more from the tow I think. I've obliged anyway as it's around 28mm in the centre.

Bottom one is the first of two which could be on their way to the T10 league in Abu Dhabi. Just under 2lbs 10oz and a copy of a preferred shape.

Any comments, thoughts etc are always welcome. Good or bad, as these posts from us smaller makers often don't get that much interaction. Which is a shame.

Bob on them! Lovely shapes, although yeah, not sure why the necessity for a 28mm toe. I assume he�s heard some pro talk about a 30mm toe at some point.

What do you think the minimum toe and shoulders should be though? I think you�ll never have a �pinging� toe anyway so it may as well be as thin as possible to move those grams elsewhere

How do these differ from your standard shape? I bought a standard shape from you and the differences seem really minor? (Or is my eye letting me down?!)

Thanks mate. He probably has, but that's the issue I think. There's so much information out there that's based on nothing more than opinion. Personally, my opinion is that I don't feel there should be std 'specs' for any part of a bat. I hate specs as often they're meaningless. 45mm splice/shoulder area means nothing if the handle is garbage for me example. Same with the toe. If it's 30mm but the toe area hasn't been pressed and/or is made from over dried willow, it will probably damage easily. As for ping, no bat in the world will ping out of the toe. Get a handled cleft with a 70mm toe and it won't ping.

Generally, I make everything with at least a 20mm toe just as that's what most people would expect. But personally I've made myself a bat with a 16/17mm toe and used it for 3 seasons with no issues. As you say, it's just adding weight in the worst place really.

Thanks mate, appreciated. Yeah there's not huge differences between a lot of shapes tbh. The 2lb 12oz one is muted like my y stuck JS175, just maybe a more gentle dick bill. The other one is a copy of an SS made bat. Thinner handle than I'd usually do, but not super skinny. Middle is higher on this one too.

Some absolutely monster bats coming out of the workshop lately @jonny77, good to see the word is spreading! Value for money is crazy when you see the prices some of the big boys are starting to charge for essentially a stock shape G3.

Thanks @Jimbo. How's your one from the lot above? 😆 Yeah they can't all be this big at these weights, that's the issue. But then if I put up one with 32mm edges on here it would get even less traction! 😂

Normally posts have to be polarising/controversial or cause furore for it to attract discussion. Sadly means discussion around customs tend to be a little limited, but new releases, unacceptable bat dimensions and willow prices get all the discussion. 😅

These look $H!+ - you can do better. (Controversial enough take?)

Jokes aside, lovely bats leaving the workshop as always. I like how the styling of your shapes has developed over the years, for my eyes, they tend to flow beautifully. The way they hold that that apex nicely before swooping slightly into the shoulders and more aggressively into the duckbill gives it a sleek and elegant look without losing the attractiveness of volume in the middle. I must have picked up close to 60 or so of them now, and all have picked up beautifully.

That 83cm one is wasted though...
