That post reminds me of my season this year - we played a mini league of 6 in which we were the lowest ranked team (we got promoted last year so presume that seeded us higher). Was an interesting experience, we got on ok - couldn't put great sides out but we turned over a couple of teams who were two divisions above us last year, I got runs in those games so was pleased with that too. It was definitely a reminder that as you get a little higher in the league's the incidence of teams who take themselves far too seriously increases significantly! Sledging levels went through the roof, send offs, players screaming at umpires, swearing, the lot. Was a real relief to finish the season with a friendly against a team we get on with well, even if the cricket wasn't as competitive.

I previously posted that I'd been demoted to 8 in the batting order for my Saturday 2ndXI, despite doing ok. We went on to win our group and qualify for the semi-finals. Despite finishing 3rd in the averages I was left out of the team which narrowly lost the semi. Sunday was the last game of the season for my Sunday side and we happened to be playing my Saturday team. So I was determined to prove a point after being left out. I batted at 4 and finished 89 not out in a comfortable win. Very satisfying finish and reminder to them what they might be missing next season.

Congratulations! no better way to prove a point than performance on the field. How were they afterwards?

They were fine, they are a great bunch. Just seem to have fallen out of favour with the second team skipper. He wasn't playing, but he did come down and watch at some point, so knew my score.  :)
