There is a big debate at our club about whether the 2 Counties could have got in half a season, and maybe called the league season off too early.

But I have pointed out that whatever the ECB say about format to play, then the league would then have to abide by surely??

Nothing confirmed about format apart from all win/lose with no promotion or relegation.

I’m struggling to understand how people can plan anything without knowing the format and number of players allowed.

Totally agree. We are poised to get things sorted as soon as guidance is issued.

Looks like reduced numbers is removed from Step 4 from latest info which would be a big win.

Two counties scrapped our season despite saying in May that if we could start by mid July which looks to be the case we would have half a season.
Another club has kindly started arranging min local leagues so we have 6 games starting on July the 18th with normal 45 over format but a 12pm start which lots of clubs want as the normal but the good old Two Counties board also dismiss it.
Club T20 next week think we have 3 teams next Sunday so ensuring we have teams mixed with sat, sun, ladies players to get as many back to the club as possible.

Far too sensible a though that!

I feel the Two Counties made the right call. They set out why they needed 3 weeks notice to make the decision on cancelling the league. The ECB and gov made a very late call, still with no real information about format with 6 days to go...

Played our first game of our half season today. No shaking hands but fist bumps allowed. Good to be playing again.

This is where we are at as well, as far as I am aware.

6 club mini-league looking to start on the 18th once the ECB guidelines are out. 1st's and 2nd's play reverse fixtures like a double header.

Next Saturday hopefully we will play a club match if a pitch available.

 Many clubs have sunday cricket fixtures all the way to mid October. If leagues start from lets say 18th July, can't see why leagues can push the fixtures back till end of September or mid October.
 It's been just one of those season and desperate times call for desperate measure. That is about 13 to 14 weeks, enough to be considered for promotion/releagation.
Saying this cause, I feel playing league cricket without promotion/relegation incentive would just take charm out and there won't be same level of enthusiasm, competition and interest.

I guess that may be complicated by many grounds having crossover with football, both in terms of facilities and players.

Our league are meeting today with the hope, not expectation that we'll start some form of competition this weekend. I think the followimg weekend is more realistic and I don't think we'll see more than 6 or 7 weeks of cricket, taking into account the above. Our club will be decimated by players playing football, which would compromise the integrity of the league. As much as I'd like to play a full season into October, I can't see that being the norm

You got a point there mate. Like people are talking about borrowing first two weeks of September, (9 weeks, half a season), I would be happy with that but with relegation/promotion. Friendly league matches won't have the same vibe. There are  enough friendlies on sundays.
