Every now and then you get a cleft that for what Evers reason you wish you could just keep & this is one of them for me.

Butterly Cleft with all the stain in the rear of the bat, kit superb ping from the off lovely gun crack sound with ball and mallet, big specs with 38mm edges light concaving, L555 length blade and SH set up and 2.9.2 before sanding so will finish around 2.10 once it�s tidied up etc.
Shape has come out a beauty as have been working on this as my new stock shape with the peacock duckbill as I call it and dropped spine towards the shoulders and huge driving area.

Oh and it�s a G3 so sub �150.

I don�t mind Butterly at all had a couple of lovely ones in the past. This is off to someone already otherwise I would certainly have had this one.

Latest one on the workbench is a copy of a 1990�s Holt & Haskell bat.

27mm edges, very thick toe and handle and full shape with a high spine. Weight is 2.9 with mid/low middle.
Just waiting to get this sanded now.

Butterly from the weekend all finished. New polishing compound and better sanding technique with more done via hand sanding has improved the quality of finish no end from when I started a year ago. Shame my photo skills and poor quality camera don�t help but you can see the shine somewhat.

Well done, this is the point of keep improving. Some stains don't look good but if you're able make them less prominent with your skills, then they are easier to sell, like bigger brands do.

SL06 with the spine blended into the toe as opposed to the normal duckbill toe on this model.

Will finish at 2.10 with 37mm edges and full shape of I�ll share once sanded and handle bound

Hi mate, as with Jonny and Jake really appreciate you sharing your setup and shaping and how you're progressing. Interesting to see the "peackcock" toe - with the bats you've recently shaped and the transition from toe to spine how does the different "bills" effect the balance of the blades etc.

Loving the shape evolution - this most recent one flows so very well.

Make no mistake I enjoy reading & watching all the bat-makers pages even if I feel I can�t offer much in the way of advice...

I�m not really allowed near power tools and that�s even more important when they are sharp as well.

Please don�t be put off by some light hearted/popcorn threads gaining more comments - if popularity was the only gauge of worth then Taylor Swift & Celine Dion would be considered some of the greatest artists of our time.

Great vid thanks for sharing. Its always nice to hear the opinions of those who have a large variety of clefts passing through their hands and can judge response (at least at the pre-knocked in stage) without the emotional complication of having paid to buy the finished bat.

I wonder what lockdown has done for the number of batmakers out there - seems that quite a few have taken the plunge who might otherwise have been too busy. This can only be a good thing for the craft.

cracking video with lots of info and very useful for people like me who have no understanding of judging a new bat/grading/performance etc (that is why i only buy used ones - to be on the safe side) - cheers for sharing @SOULMAN1012 - good luck with everything in the future!!!
