What are the areas that you feel you’re improving in with your bat making?

@Alvaro - I’m really pleased with how the shoulders and the shaping of those have progressed over the past few months, found this the hardest element to get right as it’s really obvious when one is out of line to the other eleven by a few mm as well as the structural integrity of the bat if you take to much out and don’t blend well into the handle not to mention the feel of the handle shape which also aids the pick up of the bat.

Will always be improving as I think that personally it’s a good few years apprenticeship to become a bat maker or shaper which ever people prefer when you make from a part made cleft.

Areas for improvement now are actually away a little from the bat making side of things and it’s about improving my design work for the stickers, website and promotion and exposure of my brand as this is all totally new to me and I’m not particularly technologically clued up, never downloaded music even I’m that bad lol.

Great vid thanks for sharing.  Its always nice to hear the opinions of those who have a large variety of clefts passing through their hands and can judge response (at least at the pre-knocked in stage) without the emotional complication of having paid to buy the finished bat.

I wonder what lockdown has done for the number of batmakers out there - seems that quite a few have taken the plunge who might otherwise have been too busy. This can only be a good thing for the craft.

@blindowl yea there has been a few on here that have either taken it up or really progressed with there brands over the past 18months to two years.
I like to think I’m a good judge of how a bat will perform having owned and chased so many before starting out with my own brand but as I say to everyone who asks it’s so subjective as to what makes a “good bat” what I will never tell anyone is that performance and price go hand in hand or grains and performance or be involved in any what I call marketing nonsense. My sole aim is to cater for the club player who wants a great product at a fair and reasonable price.

So today is a day that I have been waiting for, for a very long time. It’s always been an ambition to have my own brand designing and making my bats with a range of softs. Well here they are.

Bat covers are a full length and offer a full length zip that opens up the case completely, padded on the front and back inside and out to offer the best protection for your investment. These will be free with every Grade 1 bat.

Gloves are a split finger design with carbon detailing, triple thumb protection, Pittards leather palms and soft towel lining for superior comfort.

Pads are a traditional cane fronted pad, leather instep, padded straps with diamond top hat and wrap around wing protection.

Overall I’m really pleased with how they have come out after quite a few months of design work.

Prices are £52 for gloves £67.50 for pads & £15 for bat cover.

Look good mate. Personally would choose a sausage glove, but the designs look good none the less!

Looking at the stuff here is like looking through fitness model profiles on instagram. Fantastic stuff but I know I won't be able to get my hands on it. In case of your bats and softs that's sadly plain down to all that being in the UK and me not being able to get there in time to test some of that stuff. Looks brilliant.

@LEACHY48 this is my first venture into softs and in the future I will more than likely offer a little more choice of range for the gloves to be able to cater for both preferences.

Thanks for the comments and feedback mate appreciate it .

Top effort mate! Clearly someone who likes their kit is putting theirs thoughts into the designs of the gear 😊

And you can see the improvement in the bat making. Keep grafting away!

@ch1p thank you for the comment and it’s great to hear that people can see I put a lot of time into getting the design and relevant materials etc into my soft goods. As you say the bat shapes and quality has come on loads over the past 12 months and it’s really helped to have had some great support so far in 2021.

@Warneymonster thanks mate, they are one of my favourite elements of the pads and really happy with the top hat on these, perfect size in my opinion
