If you asking about towards the toe it’s a very small butterfly mark that must show that colour on the photo after oiling and buffing.

Ohh ok

What a nice shape! That's a stunning bat and decent specs for that weight

Not yet mate lol.

It’s available as I’m trying to build up a small selection of bats ready to go so like some workshop stock basically.

Hi @SOULMAN1012

I have the same questions for you as I did Jonny:

Now that it is resolutely the offseason, what do you think is the biggest improvement you've made as a bat maker over the last 12 months? Where are you looking to improve still? What is the most interesting thing you've learned?

Personally I think that the flow of your shapes has come on leaps and bounds. You're work is really coming along.

Hi @SOULMAN1012

Personally I think that the flow of your shapes has come on leaps and bounds. You're work is really coming along.

Personally I think the two biggest improvements are A) the flow and design of shapes now is lot more repeatable to be able to produce 3 stock shapes time after time to almost identical specs and B) the finishing of which those that have used either my refurb services or bought new provide great feedback on the finish of the bats.

Most interesting thing iv learned - I would say now it’s the ability to know when a cleft has reached its optimum shape to weight and having the ability to say no to people. At the start I would try and achieve specs that just were not realistic from a willow supply that at my level is just not possible ie the unicorn cleft that produces 37mm edges full shape at 2.8 finished without any narrowing or edges etc. I find willow wonderfully interesting in that no clefts are every the same
The next stage now is tye shoulders and some new investment in some more machinery for sanding shoulders will help as being totally honest I still do this like when I first started which is a sanding disc wrapped round a very straight stick which does a decent enough job but is very labour intensive.

Thanks for your question and if there are anymore I’ll be happy to answer them. And finally thanks for the feedback on the shapes @Alvaro its great that people notice the improvements as I can be very self critical at times

So finished this one up last night, sub grade due to the large knot on the face and also there was another on the rear by the splice. Finished weight 2lb 8.8oz, 33mm edge, 17mm toe at edge and 27mm toe in the centre. Shame as would have been a G1 cleft otherwise.

SL06 profile, semi oval handle

Perfect example of a cleft that a big brand would just chuck a sticker over the blemish and call it G1 anyway - lovely shape mate, great work.

Agree with the above, lovely stuff. I see some ridiculous Grading out there. G2s which wouldn't pass as G3s and its not great for the customer. I appreciate its subjective, but sometimes its just taking the *#@&, so fair play to you mate
