How good is Kane especially on a green top. Yes Pakistan’s bowling line up isn’t great with only a couple decent bowlers

Actually the bowling was quite stellar for most of the day - it took a masterclass from Kane to deny the bowlers more wickets. Loved watching how late he plays - which is why his edges didn’t carry, whereas Blundell and Latham weren’t as skillful and got found out.

Was going to say the same thing, the Pakistani bowling was far from poor. Williamson and Taylor batted superbly against some real quality bowling

Jamieson currently 2 for 9 from 17 overs. Outstanding!

Neil Wagner is a different breed. Bowls New Zealand to victory despite having a broken toe.
Fawad Alam second Test century - some 11 years after his first. Genuinely confusing why he missed so many matches when his red ball record is fantastic.

Amazing game. NZ have demolished much better teams than the current Pak one, so it was great to see some fight. Rizwan has gone from strength to strength since the England tour. Wagner - what a beast !

Played in my league for a few years as pro. I’ve seen league bowlers rush him on the short ball and from the highlights I have seen of this test didn’t look convincing on the shorter stuff.
Great great player of spin though.

My guess is he’s viewed as abit of a flat track bully and racks runs up in PAK but in reality his game isn’t overly suited to test cricket

I get what you’re saying but if you average 55-60 for 10 consecutive years you probably deserve more than 6 Test caps.

This is your regular 'Billy thinks Jamieson is the real deal' update.

He certainly looks a handful, but I’d like to see how he gets on outside of New Zealand, especially the sub continent before calling him the real deal. He’s got all the assets by the looks of it, not express but quick enough for sure.

Trouble is New Zealand are literally preparing every wicket as a bowl first track which is pretty much the only place in the world where this happens, so straight away conditions are right in his favour.

He reminds me a bit of Chris Tremlett back around 2010-11, big, tall, nice action with the ball coming down from about 10ft!!

The decks are green, sure, but I don't believe they are offering as much assistance as their appearance would suggest. Before this test, NZ has been sent in on decks a lot greener than today's and posted 519/7, 460 and 431. In NZ, if you don't leave enough grass on the deck it basically becomes a dead wicket by day 2, and produces very dull matches due to the fact that our pitches very rarely take any turn.

Agreed though, Jamieson looks like he has all the right things to succeed, will be interesting to see how he performs overseas!

I'm excited to see how he does overseas. He's incredibly tall - NZ's tallest cricketer at 6ft 8, and with his pace I think that will help him overseas. We shall see though! Either way, really promising start to his career.

This Williamson lad seems alright. Wonder if he'll make it?
