Don't find the bedroom cupboard to be a weird place to store them personally - wherever the moisture/temperature levels don't fluctuate much is as good as any. I've had a bunch of Kippaxes which have put on an ounce and a half in storage conditions where other bats didn't change. Has a fair bit to do with how the clefts are dried and the conditions of the place of manufacture/retail store compared to your storage space.
Reckon I'll be using a slightly lighter bat this year as I've not been doing much physical activity over the past year.
