I dunno, not sure I'd want a beer with someone whose verbally abused me all game, calling me x y and z, stating I can't play this, or that.  It's not like it's friendly or someone I know and am happy to take banter from.   The 'what happens on the field' stuff is usually said by those who like the verbals tbf.. it's their way to excusing it.. 'just being competitive mate'

appreciate not having wanting a beer with someone who had crossed the line, with the division we are in it seems to only be a couple of teams change every year so we have gotten to know a lot of them pretty well. thats what i mean about shaking hands and having a beer, sometimes it boils over but the majority of teams we play stamp it out within themselves and its moved on pretty quickly.

im not daft, i am fat and slow so a shout of 'no quick singles here' is hardly original, and thankfully not to regular any more.

the good players (bowlers for me), just give a smile or a nod when they know they've beaten you.. or, in reply.. you'll smile and nod as a batter when you've been beaten. No need for words tbf.. especially from point/cover and co who can't actually see anything

1st league win of the season, I kept for the 1st time ever and genuinely loved it (if anyone is selling decent pads or gloves get in touch) I will say this though, today I ache... everywhere!
My lad got tonked bowling, went for a couple of expensive overs to start but toiled away and got a few stingey overs in at the end, he did however take one of the best catches I've seen in Amateur cricket, running in full pelt to a skyer, looked like it was dropping well short but he's dived full stretch and caught it about an inch off the deck. unreal.
I then opened after 30 overs behind the stumps, used my Scott cricket bat for the 1st time, an absolute gun! was motoring along and then my opener chipped one up to mid off, fielder dropped it but he'd run in the meantime and when I looked up he was stood next to me with no bloody call, I set off but was well out. to say I was fuming was an understatement, but my own fault for ball watching. bit village though.....

the worst chirp always comes from the player who contributes the least.

Having played football and rugby at very low amateur levels, it doesnt improve though. fights every game and little or no respect for officials. makes saturdays game look almost gentlemanly

so when you have the team 5 down for bugger all.. why skittle them? said 'gun' batter isn't going to be in at 6/7....

What's wrong with bowling a team out? Would you rather they took the piss, brought on the opening bats to bowl and dragged the game out for hours having already smashed the oppo all over the place for 300+?

If your complaint is about running up a big score - it's a good level of cricket and you don't necessarily know what kind of batting lineup they have.

to bring on non bowlers and just keep the game going is quite insulting to the oppo, in a friendly less so but in the league i wouldnt want to see this. it would be an opportunity to get bowlers who could do with some overs and rest those that have been bowled into the ground every week.

Its a funny old game! Doesn't have to be a "gun bat" at 6/7 just needs to be their day!

And isn't the aim of the game to win, you can do so without being C-bombs and enjoy a beer with the oppo after...

So you're amazed by that terrific partnership 🤔, I'm sure if your bowlers were good enough, that would wouldn't have happened!

Slightly frustrating week for me, got dropped to the second team for reasons I still can’t quite get my own ahead around but I’m a club man so went down and enjoyed it and wanted to put a good performance in to show why I shouldn’t of been dropped!
Bowled 12 overs on the spin, and took 1-39 which I was pleased with! Probably deserved 1/2 more but that’s cricket! Held an end up and went at just over 3 an over so I’m happy with that!
Then came out to bat at number 10, needing a run a ball of 60 odd! I hit a seamer for 10
Off an over and was starting to feel okay, then they had a lad who had a questionable action at best, and I got bowled by one that nipped away from me as I went to whip it through mid wicket! We then lost, frustrating day as felt I could of got us closer than that but is what it is
