VKO 1st round. We scored 420/3 off 40 overs and bowled the oppo out for 44.

When you say 'we'... don't see any Marks featured here?

420 vs 44! Don't know what to think of this...

I thought it was a bit one-sided ;)

Our opener scored 110 off 60, and then our 5 came in in the 25th over, was 26 off 28, then accelerated slightly to hit his next 122 runs off 33 balls, ending up 148* off 61.

Opponents were then reduced to 1-4, and out of the 44 they managed to compile, their 3 scored 33 of them.

I'm sure that did the game a world of good. Did no one think 'hum, they aren't very good.. let's not take the mick' ?

I kind of agree. It was pretty obvious early on that they weren’t up to much, but then again it was a national competition, and I don’t think any batsman out there would have turned down the opportunity to bat.

If it had been a less high profile competition I think maybe you take the foot off the gas. In a national comp, everyone knows that teams are there to win it and you never know who the opposition might have got in as a ringer. Don't see an issue with it myself, nobody plays national knockouts for a social game.

Spare a thought for the opener who got out for 9 ..LoL

'How did it go mate?'
'Got one that did a bit.'
'Tough luck. How much did the team score?'
'420'

It was a bit of a controversial dismissal actually. He chipped the ball to mid-wicket, fielder flapped at it, everyone in the ground (including his own team) thought he had shelled it. Then he decided to claim it, and our umpire gave him out!

Played village cup yesterday; we set 203 with one of our 14 year olds chipping in with a very helpful 33 at the end! Played some brilliant shots, hopefully will keep playing them when the growth spurt happens and is that bit stronger!
I opened the bowling alongside one of our pace bowlers, he picked up a wicket first ball of their innings with a LBW which was as stone dead as I’ve seen for a long time! We had them 14-4 ish, myself getting 1-22 off my 8 overs and the other opening bowler 3-28 off his 8 as they then rebuilt with their 3 and 6! They then put on 120 I’d say; and were taking the game away from us when the 3 hit it to the man at deep mid wicket and changed the game, then all out for 169! All in all a proper good village cup game against a side we wouldn’t usually play so makes for an enjoyable afternoon

Two games so far for the team I play for an two wins.

Bit of a run feast in the first game. We made 280 odd and managed to bowl the opposition out for 230 odd. I managed 79,

Second game on Saturday and we scored 241, I managed 87 and then we managed to restrict the opposition for around 220 with a pretty poor bowling attack. Four away games in a row with travel restrictions is certainly not easy.

Pleased with my start to the season with the bat. On target for 500 runs but my fielding is absolutely awful. I actually get quite down about it in truth. Did some damage to a bat on Saturday digging out a Yorker so first visit to the bat repair shop later today.

Hope everyone is having a good start to the season.

I can relate to the fielding bit!  We are late to start playing and just had a club practice session Saturday with pairs batting. Batted ok, but stiffened up badly so didn't bowl. Concerned feel a bit of a liability this season so need to urgently shift some timber as aged late 40s there are not many seasons left!

Had a mixed game Saturday, bowled perfectly well but figures certainly don’t suggest as much. 8/0/64/1 for me, of which at least half were slogged to the 45 yard boundary down the slope, which I was trying to turn the ball up - not sure why I was put on that end given discussions I’d had but it’s overs under the belt. Wicket was an absolute pie, drag down steered to short fine leg.

Oppo ended 209/4 from 40, we chased 4 down in 35, pitch was an absolute road which allowed for some big hitting all round.

58 off 120 balls opening the batting the past weekend. Best score for a while after a period not enjoying it at my old club. But a new club last season and some timber shed to help me be fitter and I’ve started 2021 fairly well. 2/2 off 3.1 overs along side 12 with the bat the week before last and I’m satisfied with my start to the season.
