Rain.

Yep this, I was called off at 8.30am on Saturday morning,  square flooded no chance of play.

My last 4 weeks have gone as thus -

Lose by 8 wickets, our 6th lose on the bounce, prompting me to step down as 1st XI captain - for numerous reasons.

Win by 10 wickets - our 1st win of the season, I score 111 not out in a chase of 258/0 (my opening partner got 138*). This was my 1st score over 25 this season!

Out injured and don't play - very badly bruised thumb after getting nailed by the overseas quick during my 111 the week before meant I couldn't play. The team lose due to a ridiculous 100 from the oppo overseas.

Then Saturday's rain off. Has been a crazy last month or so!

Played Lisboa rivals on sat and lost toss and bowling first. Opened with our normal quick and leggie and really tight spell. One opener had to go off as quick broke his finger with a great bouncer. 19-0 off 12
I bowled first change and bowled the other opener and there best bat and at drinks they were 42-1 personally bowled 5/2/11/1 so quite happy. Skip says have a billow mate I’m going to have a couple and then bring you back at the end. He bowls 12 on the spin and picks up 6 for 50 odd and they post 172ao in last over.

Skip and normal Opener open up and after 10 we are 40-1 I’m down to come in at 4 and then watch a great stand of 115 off the next 20 before no3 try’s a ramp and gets caught. Score 13* to win by 7 wickets and move up to 3rd in the league. Just can’t say I’m really enjoying this season so far but team is doing well as that’s 4 wins from last 5 and now up to 3rd

And in div 2 as well! It’s death by slow bowling, we faced 40over of slow stuff on Saturday, can’t call it spin if it doesn’t turn

First ton in 12 years on Saturday, moved myself up to 3 as skipper due to missing our top bat, batted 46 overs and got us up to 303 with some help from the tail who stuck around and slapped it about, we were 100/6 after 24 overs. Ended on 144* and a new top score, 5 victims behind the stumps too as we managed a nervy 12 run win. Still haven't come down from it, something just clicked that day

@SOULMAN1012 Chris, your skipper seems like quite a player (stats wise rather than with the ladies). Very impressive runs and wickets ratio this season.

@Vulcan Cricket we have one lad Jordan Peacock who does have some wheels mate and also a couple of others that are on the quicker side of medium pace for our level but all can be a bit erratic at times.

Iv heard and seen briefly in my spell in the higher leagues and EAPL that it’s a huge amount of slow bowling or those that do a lot with the ball. Our lads are sharper than most but don’t do huge amounts often but our bowling is certainly stronger and more consistent strength.

@JTtaylor145 yes he is a very good player and has come of age a hit this year with the bat. Has so much talent but through it away to often in the past trying to destroy everything but he wanted to open and is leading from the front so far this year. Good at rabbit hunting as well with his bowling lol.

I've been resisting the temptation to shunt myself up the order this year when I get the complaints because not everyone can bat 4 or 5 😂 well batted pal.

Didn't play match today but I went to the nets and had long spell of bowling. Played in the bat which hopefully will use tomorrow.
Bought it as a Pro🤔 and it feels very nice in the hand and sound good off the ball.

Our game went down to the last ball, oppo needed 3 to win and our veteran occasional seam bowler delivers a beaut of a yorker. Sclaffed to midwicket, run out going for a desperate two to tie. Reminder of why I love cricket so much, never gone through so many emotions in the last 5 overs of a match!

Lost again yesterday. Didn't put enough runs on the board against a very very good bowling attack, containing a couple of guys who have played alot higher up. I got 11, missing a full toss right in front, really bad but these things happen. Just annoying as I was playing decent against the 2 opening bowlers. We posted 176-9, about 50 short on that wicket, but we were 29-3 off 10, so did well to get that.

We bowled really well but dropped 4 catches, so that was disappointing as you will never defend that under par target doing that. Oppo got it 3 down with 6.4 overs left.

The interesting thing about the game though was it was the 1st match I have been part of that was Live Steamed. It was a really great set up at the oppos appartently cost £1600 to set up, camera at one end on the sight screen with a really clear picture. I hate seeing myself bat, but noticed a few things to definitely have a think about for the rest of the season.
