3 x Broken KXR Cricket Bats (Feedback and Opinions)
« on: February 17, 2022, 02:47:08 PM »

Hi Guys,

I am by no means looking to bad mouth Kippax as a company as they make some fantastic bats, I'm just after some fellow cricket badgers feedback on the bats below.

I purchased 3 Brand New KXR Bats from Kippax before the last of last season, all of which performed excellently, however, 2 bats split quite badly at the shoulder and the final bat completely blew the corner of the toe off. I played a total of 24 Games, and we train once a week so I'd say the bats we're used no more than 20 times each use. The Bats are £390.00 each and I've emailed Kippax earlier today with the photos hoping for some feedback... All I received was the below:-

"Hi,

Very sorry to hear this.

Unfortunately, this isn’t a manufacturing fault.  In my view it’s a wear and tear issue based on the purchase date and usage.  I take on board what you say about number of games but there’s no mention on volume of practice sessions, plus they have all been relabelled with another brands labels.  Happy to fix If this is what you want but replacements is out of the question."

1) I understand that I did change the stickers, but due to their patented handle design and stamps and prints on the bat, they clearly know the bat is a kippax.
2) I've had Kippax bats in the past that have split at the shoulder which they have previously repaired and they've simply become unglued again after a couple of net sessions.
3) One of the bats I'd say is completely unrepairable, and paying £390.00 per bat I was hoping to receive a slightly better response and customer service with regards to this or are my expectations simply too high?  :(

Having forked out a large sum of money last season I was hoping to have 3 bats that would last me the next few seasons never mind not even make it through 1!

So I am left with 3 broken bats and out of pocket, I'd love to hear your guys thoughts on this, images below.

Id say the split at the shoulder is under warranty if within the tim period, strange a manufacturer would not want to see the bat in person before making an assessment on the amount of use. The damage to the to is unfortunayely caused by a yorker or ball hit on the toe - a real example of weakness with the square toe!. I'd say that this wouldnt fall into their warranty however as a good will genture I'd take them up on the repairs - as long as they're FOC!

Unfortunately there is no published warrenty, did you receive anything when you received the bats?

This does beg the question, why did you then then spend £1170 on more bats from them?  :o

Especially when you're going to sticker them a JEDI!

More sympathy for the shoulder splits, I'd expect the maker to at least have a look to check it hasn't happened because of a fault in the handle fitting.

The toe, I think you maybe just have to take the hit because that looks like damage caused by use rather than a manufacturing problem.

Because... like I said in the first post, they do make great bats and my initial kippax bat lasted me 3 years so I was a bit more understanding of the condition and life expectancy.

Interesting to see the trademark FC Sondhi handle stamp on them.

There's definitely something odd since all three have completely broke within a relatively short amount of time. How long have you had them exactly?

Def have some sympathy for the buyer with regard to shoulder splits, over a grand is quite a lot even for 3 bats.

Square toes are asking for trouble, I’ve yet to hear of any advantage at all over a normal round toe.

The physics of square ones just look the odds of this type of break are increased 10 fold.

I would send them back with a polite request to repair as much as possible

Another example of mediocre service from a bigger brand. At least offer to inspect them for you, especially the shoulder damaged ones.
Toe damage is technically correct but again at least offer to inspect them.

Probably not the best option to have re-stickered them but if you have proof of purchase shouldn’t really have been an issue.

Use a smaller bat maker as in the whole better service imo

Wavex aside, why would they be?

Wavex was designed by engineers to a certain spec, this spec relates to the mackup of the handle both with dimentions, materials including rubber and cane. These handles are made to that spec not the thin spec many Sondi handles are made of
